No idea ... never had private health insurance ... and saved tens of thousands of dollars ... and would be willing to still pay the Medicare Levy if asked ...
Friend got the letter after unsuccessfully trying to make an appointment for a referral to Urologist she has been to before ...
Looks like she will have to go to Melbourne ... probably on a long waiting list ...

Small shopping is what I hate so I made a bag on the old one.
New one is butt ugly but only one with the 'soft' wheels, unless I went up $hundreds for one with pneumatic tyres and not interested in pumping them up all the times.
This is the one I bought and my bag should attach to the back rest.
All the design needs is the front wheels turned around so a bag could hang down properly. ... but they are designed by people who have never used one ...

But still have one kaftan ... the one made from ecru with the embroidered bodice ...
Last time I wore it was with last pregnancy in 1976 ... granddaughter tried it on as a teen and couldn't believe I once was skinny enough to fit into it ...
bet she couldn't fit into it now :)
Edited ... Memories ... some keep wedding dresses ... not me, that was hired :) Rarely worn dresses since :)

I had an old one I bought from an op shop a decade age ... in case ... and took it downtown last week ...
The pain the pain!
Hard plastic wheels over the asphalt paths and roads created vibrations up my arms and into my arthritic neck ...
The one I bought has Eva Wheels apparently that don't vibrate ...we will see if I use the 30 day return offer ...

Speaking of shopping ... I've had two minor shocks today ... should have known but still worrying ...
Went to buy an item online and didn't even get to the name and address part in Checkout ... as soon as I put in my email address started getting text messages from something called Shop/Shopify ...with security code to use ...
Instantly backed out and blocked ...
Went to another store ... same thing.
Rang the store and seems that is now standard practice in that once we buy one item, the phone and emails are permanently connected ...
I refused to go through Shop/Shopify and managed to place order ...
Now we wait and see what this bloody Shop/Shopify does in the future ... and if my item arrives ...

I didn't vote for Whitlam as I wasn't in his electorate ... I can't remember who I voted for but I do remember that Murdoch supported Labor.
I think Whitlam won because of the sights we were seeing daily of the US atrocities on the Vietnamese people ... and the usual infighting within the COALition, and that the Liberals believed everything should be left to the states ... as mentally lazy then as now ...
Whitlam was arrogant and bad tempered but he got things done. He was a Leader compared to the lower case leaders we were used to ... and have now.
And it was after the dismissal Labor turned from slightly left to right.
On a scale of 10, the COALition's power went to their head and they went from a 6 to an 8 and Labor went from a 3 to a 6 ... and still drifting right.
Labor has lost it's nerve and not having any progressives building for the future, are relying on the same money grubbing advisors the Liberals have ... the BCA and the MCA ... what I call the Plutoligarchs ... and career politicians are all are about keeping seats on fat wallets ...
Anyway that's my view :)
But ... there are three truths about everything in the world ... your view, my view and what really happened :)
PS. On that same scale I'm a three ... simply because I believe we need Commerce (aka Capitalism) to pay for all the things Society (aka Socialism) needs ...

Don't know if same over there but in Australia many of the disabled are so because of accidents ...
While the road toll is counted and deplored ... the number of people either temporarily or permanently disabled from vehicle accidents doesn't even make the news ... and with vehicles made to crumple there's often horrific injuries ...
And another thing ... most end up on unemployment benefits because it is assumed they will recover ... most won't.

The absolute best insults are those by Shakespeare ...
One I've used on politicians is "Thou art an hourly promise breaker" and how they have more earwax than brain ...
For people who annoy me but say they want to stay in touch I say ... "Let's meet as little as we can" ... that one usually takes a while and one can see them smile, take a few steps then stop,understand, look back, then move on :)
One of the best is this one as it can be broken down and each part become a wonderful insult on its own ...

My daughter was exposed to that in the mid 1970s in an open Prep, 1 and 2 classroom with an American teacher of the process ...
It was called Phonetics as in spelling as it sounds ... and even though it was abandoned after a couple of years, she had to be taught right how to read from the beginning, and still can't spell properly ...
And spoke with an American accent for some time ...
Parents had to spend many hours on 'homework' ...
