I understand the world is falling apart, or at least part of it, but I can’t do anything about that right now.
Instead, I’ve been setting up a new Mailchimp account and integrating it with my personal website, so I can abandon all the other platforms and simply use my own site for all my output. I’m going to quit everything else. Still working out how best to automatically publish to here and how to get my RSS feed out to people. See if I can build my own audience and give it away.

I’m already getting shit for suggesting that a server might need funds to operate, or that marketing might be involved in attracting users. Heaven forbid, you pearl-clutching ingrates.
I don’t seek payment. I’m volunteering my services because I can’t find what I want and I’m incapable of handling the tech. From what I’ve seen, most techs can’t handle the storytelling required to create a brand.

I’m wondering if there is anyone out there who would like to start their own Mastodon instance, but has no particular direction or focus. I would like to propose a partnership, whereby I handle the branding and marketing (providing a customer base), and you maintain the server. We would charge a small monthly fee.
My concept is a server devoted to the arts. Writing, art, and music. The name, URL, and branding to be determined.

When you stand out of the way and tell the cops in advance, and you don’t disturb anyone, that’s not an effective protest in my opinion. It’s a circle jerk.

@nprofile…7jwe I remember when my family first got a digital line (no more rotary), along with call waiting, three-way calling, and call forwarding. My father was as cheap as the day is long, but my mother used the phone for work so it made sense that with a family of six we might want the ability to take calls no matter what. In high school, I even ended up having a separate line which essentially became mine for a time.
That three way calling was a real social nightmare.

Is this just an old people thing, or is it a gender thing? I walk around the house seemingly all day and night, turning off lights in rooms no one is in. My wife, on the other hand, likes to turn on all the lights in the house, especially if we have guests, even when it’s just grandchildren.
The whole temperature thing is a deeper issue.

It’s one of those things that I fear makes you look unsophisticated to admit, but I don’t really care for performance art. Doesn’t matter whether it’s Andy Kaufman or a banana duct taped to a wall. Really?
I think people need to push the envelope, but the line is there for a reason and often, the vanguard is WAY over the line. I get it. I’ll go the matt to defend their right to do so, but the pile of dirty rope in the museum is not anything I’m interested in seeing.

Acme Supermarkets, my local grocer, has Cheap Chicken Mondays, where they sell you an eight-piece fried chicken bag for $6.99, reduced from the already cheap $8.99.
The thing is, not only is it amazing fried chicken, you can’t even buy raw chicken for that price, let alone well cooked. I try not to buy it very often because it’s not good for you, but it sure is tasty.

If you add a pocket square and a scarf, you’ll look like you’re the best dressed person in the room. I’ll even throw in a pocket watch for a bit flair.
I used to wear Armani suits. I’m more likely to sport Dickies now.
I showed up to a new client the other day and everyone was wearing branded fleeces. Totally casual.

I’m trying out a THC drink additive called Major. You drop a capful in your drink and that’s supposed to be roughly 10mg. I’m going to stick with one dose for the evening and see how it goes, and how long it lasts, especially since I’m drinking it over time. I added it to my 20oz Yeti with seltzer and a splash of Sprite Zero.

It’s not culturally acceptable at the moment in the West, but I think we should have a more healthy approach to photos of our dead loved ones. We’ve taken pictures of the dead since they invented photography, and then stopped. Why don’t we take pictures at funerals. Why don’t we take pictures of our loved ones? I would have preferred to have a photographer at my father’s funeral, and photos of my father after he died. I was there. It’s not considered acceptable.
It’s pretty stupid.

This may sound bizarre, but I think my sense of smell has improved since losing the long beard. It could be my imagination, but I suspect that the beard balm I was using, which was pretty heavily scented, was masking all these other smells. @nprofile…txud Right. But they all know it’s a slippery slope. I’m all for it, in principle. If this were normal times, I’d advocate abolishing the filibuster and these bullshit parliamentary rules. Let majority rule, and then own your shitty policies at the polls. Stop hiding behind performative bullshit. Both damn sides. But that was then.
Now we’re in an existential crisis, forget constitutional, and all bets are off.

I live on a state highway. It’s rural and curvy, and we get a lot of tourism traffic, so people who don’t know the road. They also drink and drive.
Accident tonight. Most responders in recent memory. In fact, I thought it must be a fire. Over 20 responders.
An accident a mile north of me in front of a friend. He lives back a few hundred yards, so he didn’t get a look at it, but I heard there were trapped passengers, and then a Helicopter came and medivaced someone out.

I admit I haven’t been following the latest shut down so don’t know the details. The GOP controls the WH and both houses of Congress. They can pass anything they want. Why isn’t the media talking about who is stopping from them doing it? It’s not the Democrats. Why would they help them?

@nprofile…a76u I agree with you about Jimmy, but he’s never presented himself as a brave man. He’s a clown. My guess is that he’s been very good to the Roots and they would not think poorly of him for any reason.

I think I’m getting the hang of making some bangin’ chicken wings. I have this great rub someone turned me onto, then I lightly coat them with Ray’s Original hot sauce by putting the wings in a big ziplock after they’re done cooking, and dress them. They’re not dripping with sauce. You taste the rub and the natural char, with a light touch of heat. I think they’re pretty awesome. I have some ideas for how to improve, but I’m getting into it. #Wings #Foodie #BBQ
