I'm also planning to add four new weapon enchantments and two new weapon curses in the next update to Shattered Pixel Dungeon! Here's two: venemous can stack up a lot of DOT but on a delay, and vorpal can replace regular damage with a bleed effect.

Here's a QOL life tweak that's coming in the next ShatteredPD update. Health bars will indicate the amount of incoming DOT by partly darkening. There are some other additions that will benefit from the player seeing total DOT at a glance.

Here's a room for ShatteredPD's upcoming quest that I didn't share in the recent blog. The waves of lasers can be dodged with good movement, but a harder variant of the room could turn the beam speed up and require a consumable to get past.

The upcoming quest in Shattered Pixel Dungeon involves a more stealth than normal, and so enemy AI needs some tweaks to accommodate that. 'Investigating' is a new AI state that gives you just a little more time to duck away behind a corner or door.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon v3.3 is in beta right now, and it includes the game's first new artifact in a very long time! The Skeleton Key can be used to open almost any lock, lock doors that weren't previously locked, and create temporary magical walls!

The last Shattered Pixel Dungeon update included a little green bow icon for when the Ferret Tuft was the reason an attack missed. I'm now extending that system to all accuracy and evasion effects! This should make their impact much more visible.

The next update to Shattered Pixel Dungeon will feature an overhaul to thrown weapons! They will now work in sets of three, which can be upgraded as a unit. This means lots of weapon properties will apply to them, including enchantments!

The next update to Shattered Pixel Dungeon will make some pretty big changes to the Warrior. His current shielding over time benefit is passive and hard to notice, so I'm changing it to grant him a bunch of shielding up-front, with a cooldown.

Hey Dungeoneers, I've just released that second patch for Shattered Pixel Dungeon v3.0 that I mentioned last week. It's some more smaller fixes and translation updates. This includes a fix for a Steam Deck quirk which caused Shattered to think it was on a 4" screen instead of a 7" one.

Here's another Cleric spell, first shared in this week's blog post. Sunray deals a bit more damage than guiding light and blinds the target for a few turns. Casting the spell twice in a row will upgrade the blind to a stun, but only once per enemy.

In a way the Cleric is the first hero to appear in the original Pixel Dungeon, back in 2012! For about 6 days PD had a hero design that ended up getting scrapped. This was my earliest inspiration for the Cleric, although the design has changed since then.

The first patch for Shattered Pixel Dungeon v2.5.0 should now be out on all platforms! v2.5.1 includes an assortment of small fixes, and some balance changes to three of the new trinkets. I expect to make more changes in future patches as well, before moving on to work on v3.0.0.

Hey folks, I've just sent the release candidate build for Shattered Pixel Dungeon v2.5.0 to beta! If all goes smoothly I plan to release the update in another couple of days, probably on Wednesday.
Unfortunately, users on Google Play are still stuck on a beta from August 30th. Google Play usually takes ~1 hour to review any update I send, but Beta-5 has been stuck in review for days now. This may mean that the full release of v2.5 will be late on Google Play.

Shattered Pixel Dungeon's next major update will be going to beta early this coming week.
Here's one more new thing coming in v2.5: new cursed wand effects! I'm adding 16 new effects, ranging from simple bubbles to a rare but extreme supernova explosion! The bubbles are harmless but you really, really want to avoid the explosion.

Hey rat punchers, Shattered Pixel Dungeon v2.5.0 is getting very, very close to being ready for beta. Sorry for the delay, but there's a few additions over what I was originally planning for this update that have made it take a while.
One of those additions is region splash arts during the game's loading screens! After teasing these all the way back in 2023 they're now ready, and will release with v2.5.0!

On this day, 10 years ago, I released Shattered Pixel Dungeon v0.1.0. This tiny initial release was my first serious attempt at gamedev and was distributed to maybe 50 people on the Pixel Dungeon subreddit.
Fast forward 10 years and Shattered is my full-time job, with roughly 5 million combined downloads and roughly 150 thousand combined sales over several platforms.
