#Labour MP for #Norwich South, Clive Lewis has nothing to loose in his constituency by saying:
“It feels that he [the prime minister] has lost control within the first year"
The thought of #Reform UK leading in the polls "terrifies me, it terrifies my constituents and it terrifies a lot of people in this country... we don’t have the luxury of carrying on this way"
On the edge of his constituency I saw 91 flags tied to lamp posts today.
#Starmer is an albatross to Lewis.

If you are wondering why would 1/3 of British people who can barely afford to live still think #NetZero is a good thing…
I would imagine it’s because while many may be struggling with suppressed wages and disability benefit cuts, they may also be living in social housing which has seen a huge increase in #retrofit funding in recent years.
If your housing association has insulated your home, installed a heat pump and put solar pv on the roof then you are already experiencing NetZero benefits.

It’s not just affordability.
We didn’t build back greener as promised after Covid.
The Rightwing media has gone from climate denial to climate cynicism, unchecked.
#Climate protests have been all but banned.
Labour dropped Green Pledge.
Reform has made NetZero the new Brexit.

So Angela #Rayner has resigned.
She’s being cast as a tax evader on stamp duty due to not seeking the right level of advice into the complex arrangements around having a property in trust for a disabled son.
I assume fishing trips into the financial affairs of all MPs regardless of party affiliation or gender will now become standard. Or will they?
Not a good day for Labour, female politicians, working class or those who care for their disabled adult children.

There is not a version of this, where it all ends well by a notionally centrist party donning the clothes (flags) and policies (hating on minorities) of the Far Right.
It ends badly not only for that notionally centrist party (Labour) but also for the entire population of this country.
We need strong, ethically grounded leadership to reinvigorate democracy and address inequality and climate change.
Anything less and we’re all toast.

I’m still on the fence about Corbyn and Sultana’s #YourParty.
There is so much baggage with Corbyn and Sultana seemed to jump the gun on announcing the party, which got it off to a very bad start in many people’s eyes,
But that doesn’t take away from the fact #Labour under #Starmer is a far cry from what people thought they voted for.
The points Corbyn makes here are entirely right and will resonate with many.

The silencing of those in our public sectors about the political journey to the bottom this country is being taken on by #Reform and a complicit mass media is terrifying.
This female police chief is speaking out now at the point of her retirement. It’s not an uncommon thing to do these days, but once in retirement they no longer have a platform.

Many of those 40% not reporting crimes they’ve seen/experienced don’t trust the police anymore, but equally many just don’t believe the police will do anything meaningful any more due to cuts. The result may be the same, but the causes are different.
If I believe the police to be institutionally racist that’s different to thinking they won’t bother to investigate the theft of my bike because they don’t have the resources.
It’s equally not binary - you can believe both.

I am very curious as to how this will all play out. Arrests may have been made under terrorist legislation for appearing to support a proscribed group. But how many charges have subsequently been brought and on what basis? Terrorism offences are very unlikely to be tried by a magistrate, but what if a lesser charge is brought, like being a ‘public nuisance’?

So made it out to a gig actually with my partner for the first time since 2012 today…went to see Manic Street Preachers, Charlatans and Ash at Audley End.
It was musically brilliant, atmosphere very chilled, architecturally exquisite and weather just spot on…but times have changed.
Folks started leaving 45mins before the end to get home and there was no encore. What’s become of you Gen X?

So if we don’t want Buckingham Palace, Houses of Parliament, the City and all it’s diverse inhabitants to be flooded…we have to act now.
The UK government has to spend money on adaptation. They don’t have a choice. Leave it later and it will cost far more and potentially be too late.
#Labour may say it can’t afford £28 billion on green projects…but are they really going to abandon the capital?

And it seems the mainstream media are asleep too…why don’t they want to acknowledge that this impressive work of engineering designed in the 70’s is at the end of its life?
With sea levels set to seriously rise, where are the plans for a new barrier, barrage or potentially dam…because that is what we’ll need very soon.
