It seems to me gold just about tracks along to the real yet unreported tune of inflation. Only problem is, for the average Joe, I’m left with only two options: leave my gold bars tucked away in a sock drawer until I die, or run them down to Jim Bob at the pawn shop / coin exchange and get my ass reamed out by whatever he’s willing to give me for them. One of the interesting side effects of discovering Bitcoin and all the various facets that it leads one down has been an overall sense of moral superiority in my views on life and society. At times I feel a sense of what I guess is guilt over this, like I’m not humble enough, even though in general I keep my thoughts and opinions to myself. It’s really amazing the rate at which home miners are developing. A few months ago the best one could do was 350 G/h at a cost of a couple hundred USD, and now we are pushing the envelope to 4 T/h at a very similar cost. Quiet, little heat. This is a great move towards decentralization. While clearly it’s still very early, something of this nature in every home is a pipe dream I am willing to smoke.

My personal mantra towards politics and the general State apparatus of power has become one of personal secession, i.e. I comply with what I must absolutely comply with to avoid unnecessary interactions with the powers that be, but avoid all else implicitly.
However, at certain times I feel the preternatural pull to belong to something greater than myself, which if certain aspects of my life had not come to blossom, would be the pull back to the all encompassing State.
And this is one of the most understated power aspects of Bitcoin in my eyes. I can belong to one of the most powerful movements on Earth, yet remain an anonymous and decentralized individual and yet still maintain a powerful sense of belonging to something greater than myself, while protecting my sense of sovereignty.
Every sat stacked is a shot fired for the network. Every node and every channel is vote for a better tomorrow, and a chisel blow to the cornerstone of the behemoth that brought us all to these tumultuous times.
All I have to do is work, stack, and live, and love.

To each their own, but I ditched smoking weed 90 days ago today, after 15 years of daily usage, somewhere in the ball park of 150-300mg of THC daily.
Psychologically it’s been one of the most challenging things I’ve done. I never even realized what a crutch it had become for my mind.
Long story short, I feel weed has a purpose, as it did for me at certain times in my life, but people really underestimate the power it really has over the mind.
Take a break. Truly open your mind. Sobriety is way more intense than being high.

Not to be tit for tat, but I’m just alluding to the fact that money transfers as they stand are centralized in an old manner as they’ve always been. Doubtless Western Union and the like provide a service, and a service people are willing to pay for, but we are living in a transitional era where many technologies and services are operating side by side. If you’ve ever used Lightning, you’ll realize how redundant services like Western Union are becoming. I realize it’s early, but I think it’s justifiable to speculate that they will have to adapt as new competitors start offering Lightning based services to these markets.

Not saying it doesn’t work. The point is it works but at a cost that’s predatory to certain populations of the world that could otherwise utilize a burgeoning technology to save precious value. Virtually free monetary exchanges versus 3-6% makes a world of difference when you don’t have a pot to piss in.

I don’t believe money is neutral in an economy, short run or long run. Especially so in the long run if the overall assumption is that prices and wages will “adjust” to the new monetary level. In the REAL world, not academic economic fantasyland, we all know it takes forever if not at all for prices and wages to adjust, and none of which adjust with any sense of equilibrium, which in itself contributes to calculation and economic uncertainty. So to say money is neutral, in this respect, seems completely fallacious.
