I've reached contemptuous. albo is on track to have a worse legacy than morrison.
morrisson was a disaster, but everything he did was in line with his stated ideology, reactionary hauntology. he was a venal liar and never pretended to be anything different.
albo has been handed things that he knows are problems and is refusing to fix them, contrary to the ideology he claims, and to every stated goal, to every promise. he won the election by total default and his opposition was in shambles and his government has used that as an excuse to do every awful thing they can to please their masters, presumably because they presume this one's a freebie. after all, how often do you have the chance to be so deliberately damaging, while still fucking up less than the other guys would have done?

i feel like the government could be doing something, so the reserve bank didn't have to keep pulling the one lever they have access to, but then i remembered that the government is unable to acknowledge the existence of the many levers it has access to, let alone pull any of them, then i have a little swear.

someone pointed out how clearly this illustrates the fact that the only organising principle of mainstream conservatism is white nationalism.
this is something they claim to be a foundational belief; that when the government ceases to represent the interests of the people, and begins to infringe upon freedoms, the moral response is armed defence. and yet here and now when not only civil liberties, but actual laws, have been (in material effect at least) suspended when it comes to vast swathes of the population, they are howling with rage at even peaceful protest.

absolutely. like, i know it objectively, sam altman doesn't have enough compute or power to deliver the things he promised last time. microsoft is not going to build him his own nuclear reactor, no matter how often he asks. the blackwell chip still sets itself on fire due to the limits of the materials it is made of.

my intrusive fear is that it won't be allowed to burst because it's too much of the economy, too pure a distillation of the ideology. like, it will all slowly collapse, and all the markets will contract and recess but we will just have to pretend.
