When i did a research essay into the history of money in Canada i found that the indigenous communities of canada had trade networks and political agreements that were held together with symbolism (wampum belts) and the potlatch ceremonies were like advanced socialism were tax didn’t exist but a form of reciprocal loyalties through gifting and making sure everyone had material standing as well as a place in the community via the chief.
