We should stop fighting amongst ourselves and focus on onboarding as many people as possible.
Make them hold in self custody not IBIT or suitcoin.
Don’t confuse them with complicated setups, start with a hot wallet.
Done force them to put their life savings into it. Start slow.
Don’t tell them they are retarded and show your arrogance/ purist behaviour. Try to understand where they came from.
Put sponsorship greed aside and try to help them rather than rugging them.
There is no value in saying I told you so, you should have done that etc. It has no value in real life. You don’t want to create enemies.
If we don’t onboard as many people into this space, we might become the escape goat for the government, when the shit really hits the fan. So it’s on our best interest to do it.

Dude you need to read about how multi sig works. In 2-2 multi sig, you still need the xpub. Know the sequence of how you created the multi sig at first. After that which derivative pathway it used. Let’s say you used sparrow to create your multi sig but didn’t saved your xpub, now after 10 year sparrow wallet isn’t there any more, how will you construct your multi sig if the new wallet doesn’t use the same derivative pathway that sparrow used?

Im ain’t spreading the fud. I’m telling the truth.
Multi sig and DIY solutions are gonna get people rekt, unless people understand the trade offs.
Single sig + passphrase (through bip39 diceware) will be more secure regardless of the any hardware manufacturer.
I’m keeping my setup simple and easy to use.

Totally agree people have shit to do rather than always worry that if their entropy was good enough or is there a backdoor in the hardware.
I personally started with ledger as my first hardware, then upgraded to cold card because it was open source, air gapped and shit. It totally shook me.
Ironically I’m back to where I started in my hardware wallet journey lol.
Passphrase + single sig will still be my go to. Won’t use multi sig or DIY projects, just to get rekt.

I’m not an expert but we don’t know what hardware components did he use, about the software people were using. The whole idea that air gap was immune is a scam because a malicious software/hardware can leak your keys even if you use SD card. Like he might know the xpubs to attack. The whole thing is fucked up and above most of us intellect.
The whole software plus hardware needs a forensic analysis at this point.

So basically Peter gray filed for a patent on remote device monitoring meaning that even without user input this dude can access the device.
If it’s true, then any seed generated via coldcard isn’t safe. Even dice rolls. Rest I’m not technical enough to know how’s that possible. A cryptographer has to asses the device hardware.

You have to now roll a casino dice and do the math? If you are a cryptographer yes you can.
As a human we all work on trust based society. Imagine your doctor said “don’t trust verify” “you should have known about the disease, diagnosis and treatment” after they fuck up.
You pay a hardware provider and they have just one job. To generate random seed. Just like you pay a doctor or a lawyer.
No other hardware provider has been affected. Sure they aren’t just “bitcoin only” but they have done their work.
Imho you need to call out the circle jerking happening in our community rather than pointing out to people that they need to do more. People have already done their best and still got rugged.

It’s only people selling you this product who claim it.

2026-08-02 16:48:26 UTC

- reply

As much I have read, it’s not just about the entropy of your dice. Regular dice are heavy on one side, plus if you don’t roll them properly plus if you roll them on hard surfaces where they might slide, it results in entropy way less. Like 70
So if I was generating seeds using a dice, I will do my best to get best casino dice and do it in such a way it reduces my randomness to near zero.
Otherwise why won’t I use a hardware device to generate it with way more entropy.

2026-08-02 16:00:58 UTC

- reply

As much I have studied, only casino dice that too rolled on a bouncy surface gives true entropy which is bit higher than a hardware wallet entropy.
Seedstick doesn’t qualify as true randomness.

The reason why Gold got widely adopted was that even a non technical person can buy and hold it.
Also dunking on others doesn’t help . It delays adoption and makes people hate us more.
