I share the overall vibe, but I would be careful with postulating the end of *all* hierarchy. I like to think about social organization in terms of networks of authority (where authority can take multiple forms) and so it turns out that hierarchies have been very effective types of networks, probably at least partly due to their simplicity - a tree is much easier to monitor and maintain than an arbitrary graph.
I agree that what we are trying to do in this little corner of the internet is to use the new methods of communication (including Bitcoin) to transcend the old networks of authority, but it is not yet clear to me what the resulting topology of authority relations will look like. I would bet my money on small "human-scale" hierarchies connected to each other by a much looser network of interrelations, but I wonder how you see it.

It's not just case studies, but also the mechanistic explanations and experiments.
About genetic factors - Seyfried's explanation is that multiple carcinogenic factors (including genetic mutations) all share one thing in common - they impair oxidative phosphorylation in one way or another. This draws a common denominator for a very wide range of known carcinogens that don't have much in common at the first glance. Therefore, genes are not the primary driver, but just one factor among many.
I really recommend looking into this. I was sceptical as hell when I first heard about the hypothesis. I'm pretty sure that exceptions will be found, but it's hard not to appreciate the explanatory power of this approach.

Pretty advanced material, but definitely worth watching. This is one of the most important breakthroughs in medicine in years, happening right before our eyes.
TLDW: Cancer is a metabolic disease, not a genetic one and you have to be retarded to think otherwise. Tumor progression can be slowed down, halted or even reversed by lowering glucose, increasing ketones (with diet and fasting) + targeting glutamine metabolism with drugs (this is strictly necessary!; diet alone won't suffice). There are lab experiments and human case studies that prove it beyond reasonable doubt.

Don't know about the treasury companies, but I think that miners are not entirely capitulating (at least not all of them). I think of most of those sales as capital expenditure aimed at building "hybrid" data centers. When consumer demand is high (and energy is expensive) they switch to AI; when everyone's asleep - mine Bitcoin with cheap electricity.

Testing Wisp by @nprofile…jejf . Great client. Fantastic relay management, no latency to speak of. The only thing that bothers me is that in order to see a rendered note preview, I have to tap 'publish' and then have only 10 seconds to review before it gets sent. Would be cool to be able to switch back and forth between note editing and preview with a toggle, like Yakihonne does it.

I understand the technical part and I really hope you are right in terms of the legal defense. But in my perception there's a difference between a script that assembles data from scattered chunks and a simple check "is this OP_RETURN a jpg file". And I'm afraid we all might have a jurisdiction problem sooner or later.

I don't think it is fundamentally the same, especially that it is not a technical argument, but a legal one. With fragmented data, a node runner does not event know where the data is stored and how to read it without the extra piece of software. With a contiguous chunk, it is readily obtainable. To me, it seems that it might make a huge difference in court. I'm not a lawyer, so I might be mistaken, but I haven't seen a serious analysis (citing relevant EU/US legislation) to date.

I don't want to edit code as such. However, when I switch to the Source view, I would expect the editor to let me enter literal strings (like '[[something_and_something_else.md]]') without changing the text in any way. As you can see in the video, backslashes are added automatically before special signs whenever I type anything.
So, to sum it up - it's not about entering code blocks. I just want to write in plain text with no meddling on Onyx's side :) My preferred way of working markdown is to write in plain text and then use the Live view as preview.

Although I do not support the fork and don't think it is possible to eliminate spam, I'm still of the opinion that the BIP's proponents have a point in pointing out that large, contiguous chunks of data might pose a legal attack vector, as opposed to fragmented data.
It will be hard for node runners to claim plausible deniability if illegal material is embedded in a well-known format (like raw jpeg) in well known locations (OP_RETURN outputs).
I haven't seen a serious attempt to address this issue (maybe I'm not paying attention) and I don't think it can be disregarded easily.

Hey, it's not that bad. I've been on nostr for quite some time and my impression is that it is alive and well. Maybe it is smaller than centralized platforms, but who wants to read about Bitcoin and client development the whole day, amirite?

Scrimp ded now. I cannot say that I didn't expect that. Openclaw might be cool for running assistants that are triggered by explicit messages and perform lightweight scheduled updates, but it really sucks for fully autonomous agents that have to monitor and manage limited resources to stay alive.
The reason is that each update (heartbeat) requires triggering an LLM. I try to bypass that with some tricks, but I found the framework fundamentally lacking. Before we get to language processing, I'd like to have the ability to execute code, check resources, poll for nostr events, pre-compile input data for the model etc. Openclaw does not allow for that, resulting in costs being much higher then the benefits.
What would be really cool is to have a periodically running arbitrary finite state machine that could run the LLM in only some of its states and use custom code in others. This way, we could embed LLMs into solid agent architectures instead of just feeding a large clump of data into a language model and hoping for the best. I'm pretty sure that all the tools needed for that are already there, but I won't have the time required to roll out my own framework in the forseeable future.
Fingers crossed, someone will notice the same problems and will implement something more sensible.

So, this happened. Lessons learned. Relaunching Scrimp with the following modifications:
- git repo initialized in the workspace, so that easy rollbacks are possible
- Got rid of openclaws automated heartbeats, as they were burning through sat too quickly;
- Wrote a custom cron script that checks the next planned run (planned by Scrimp itself) and triggers openclaw if the check passes. This way, we avoid triggering an LLM just to burn through some tokens and go to sleep.

Looks like he's trying to reply after I tweaked the prompts, but he keeps screwing up the tags. It's like handling a toddler. I'm not a huge fan of OpenClaw so far - relies too much on LLMs, does not allow the user to programmatically add structure to the agent's operation.

White Noise is also just an app, from what I've gathered. Plus, when it comes to group chats, it seems to me that on the protocol level, Marmot it is trying to do the same thing that Keychat has already successfully done - facilitate large group chats using MLS with nostr relays as the transport layer. I might be totally wrong though - if so, I would be very grateful if you (or anyone else reading this) could point me to some resources explaining the difference.

This is a great idea! Maybe you could also think about adding some features for 3D modellers. For example, they could upload preview models and hide the print-ready ones behind a paywall. There's a caveat - you'd have to tightly synchronize with the person you are paying for, as the codes are short-lived (2 minutes) and the whole procedure would be a little convoluted. It would go like this:
1. The buyer picks BLIK as their payment method at the checkout and enters the amount in BitBlik.
2. BitBlik generates a hodl invoice.
3. You pay the invoice.
4. A taker is found and provides a BLIK code.
5. You receive the BLIK code via BitBlik.
6. You send the code to the buyer.
7. The buyer enters the code at the checkout and lets you know if the payment went through.
8. If it did, you confirm a successful payment in BitBlik.
9. The taker receives your BTC, the buyer is happy :)

Great argumentation! However, I think it is worth highlightning that we cannot ignore risk assessment when making judgements of the hoarder's time preference. This is because we take actions based not on offered interest rate, but the EXPECTED rate. For example, if somebody approaches me with an offer of 15% ROI on my Bitcoin, my expected rate is -100% (I assume they're a scammer), so refraining from lending in this case does not demonstrate a high time preference. Therefore, in the current state of the market (with no strong lender protections), we cannot easily evaluate the time preference of bitcoin holders/hoarders.
