@nprofile…lx0q I preordered it on Audible and listened to it in a very short time because it was that good! I've followed her on Youtube for several years now and also listened to her first book. She's such a real person and like she says, there will always be haters, but the people that judge her so harshly because of the way she chooses to live her life as one blind woman saddens me greatly.

@nprofile…kx0x @nprofile…ztmx It wasn't meant to be a gotchya, but to show you that you never know what somebody has been through until you do, so it's a very bad look to be saying things like that. Even though you mentioned you were bullied in that same post, that comment flew in the face of that, making you sound very privlidged. Just pointing out how it looks to somebody just reading over here.

@nprofile…kx0x @nprofile…ztmx I'm sorry that you hold that view, because it is very untrue. He has said publicly that he suffered serious and prolonged sexual abuse during his school days. You never know what someone has gone through and an opinion may or may not reflect that, that's a big not in this case. The issue is that while the use of such words and phrases don't bother a lot of us, that is because we've become desensitized to these phrases that do actually perpetuate the way people react to us. Words do matter and we don't get to pick and choose when. The issue with people that die on this hill like Jonathan is that some of them (I think Jonathan knows better) seem to think that this is the only approach to helping solve the unemployment issue and the way we're viewed in general. That's part of it but a small part. What we really need to do is have some way to introduce ourselves and our skills to major companies, but liability concerns would shoot that down quickly! That would help both with unemployment as well as the general view of us because we would get more exposure over time.

@nprofile…ukrr Well in the case of phones, you don't necessarily have to be rich, just have a phone plan that lets you upgrade every year. Sure a bit more expensive per month than paying for something like Tello, but it's not like they're dropping more than $1000 at once per year.

Just updated to NVDA 2025.2 and saw this in the What's New document. • A checkbox has been added in the speech settings to allow users to disable WASAPI for SAPI5 Why would one want to do this? Would it help with latency with SAPI5 voices? @NVAccess

I'm using NVDA's AI Content Describer Add-On to get descriptions of pages from a diary, but it only gave me the exact text once, instead summarizing the rest of them I've tried so far. So I modified the prompt and still no go. Repeated tries of the same images produce the same results, so yay for consistancy I guess, but it seems to be ignoring the prompt which is very annoying!

@nprofile…ukrr Yeah, it's pretty nice, I don't use BSI often because I have a smaller phone so have trouble with hitting the right keys but I did mess with the new stuff when they first changed BSI in 18.

It really annoys me that no TV or Set Top box with Screen Reader functionallity that I've ever used or heard about has a way to stop speech. It could be simply one press of the back button while speaking stops, twice goes back but if the speech isn't active, one press goes back as normal. I could also imagine this being glitchy because AI coeded it LOL! Only have kidding...
