that's great. Don't get me wrong. But it's not as informative as one would think. Having the right to open computer is a basic minimum that we somehow forfeit, so I'm glad I'll have one. But if I open it, will I learn that almost anything inside is soldered? Or can I have a reasonable expectation that most parts could actually be replaced with screwdriver and happy-go-hacky attitude.
If it requires an industry-level infrared rework station, that's not what I'm looking for. I suspect that it would be somewhere in the middle, right?

As far as I looked into this the MNT Reform is the closes to what one can mean when they say "modular", but I don't know. It looks kind of "bricky". The alternative could be a European laptop with Linux which - while not modular - is focused on high repairability. @npub1sfg…fqh4 and @npub1hpu…ggnf I'm talking about you. It's one of those rare times when someone is actually asking a brand to contribute to the conversation, so here's your chance :)

honestly, tin-foil hat aside, yesterday I was wondering who would be the biggest stock market losers, if AI turn out to be a bust. Who has the least ability to pivot? And when I realize that even AI bubble bursts, they will still have all those massive data centers and strong incentive to recoup their investment, it was unsettling.

I completely agree that this is a bubble. It's one of a few huge ones. Honestly, how many bubbles can we have inflated at the same time and be casual about it? Some bubbles can take ages to pop becouse they are acctively protected with borrowed money, subsidies, and predatory practices. Look how many giant brands were never profitable. Of course crativity will trive at the end. But it may take a while, and the net billans for human kind will be negative. If they all pop at once... It's barely comforting that the digital weastland will be full of powerful art.

inevitably, they will introduce ads. Inatavibly, they will re-diecover that ads don't work. They will increase the cost. We will switch to others...they're will always be some investor ready to burn a few millions on "growth-oriented market disrupotor"`...
Yet sooner or latter we will be forced to pay. A lot. A lot more than we used to, since we decimated creatives and programers at entry level.
