Bits of quilting progress.. I am working on a sampler and the blocks for the inner rows are now done..
..so I am laying out and starting to sew the many detailed peony blocks (which look sooo bright in their incomplete state) and I am mocking up the diamond pattern corner blocks (which I will probably sew before I finish all the peonies).. dashing and assembly of all the blocks will happen last

@npub18cy…xjlr and I are in the deep wilderness of Great Basin National Park and are so excited to share our #coffechain this morning.
We woke up to the golden glow of sunlight trickling across the spires of Wheeler Peak. We are at 11000 ft. Wheeler peak is 13000 ft.
One of our first orders of business was to setup the HF ham radios and activate the park. It is gorgeous up here!

Totally ridiculous. It’s not fat phobic to give folks a heads up about a legitimate safety issue. I mean, I’d want to know if it was too narrow for me to fit through safely. It’s nature.. and a dangerous slot canyon.. not an amusement park.
I am all for accessibility requirements for public facilities like courthouses and government buildings.. but this is ridiculous.

I am kicking off a few big things this week (new focus at work, health journey). It was so nice, then, to get away, go camping and disconnect last weekend with @npub18cy…xjlr and friends. I feel reenergized for what lies ahead.

Lol! It’s a Xiegu G90. I got my general license at the end of May (and it’s so hot here that leaving my apartment to set up an antenna hasn’t happened very often yet) so I am still breaking it in.. but it’s fantastic!

Going through old ephemera, I’m struck by how much I crammed into trips and experiences.. consuming them rather than allowing for space and pauses. I suspect that it was a cover up and avoid other discomforts. And while I still enjoy being in motion, I’d like this next chapter to move away from consuming.. disguised as sampling many things.. to savoring and enjoying. Going to one place and connecting with it instead of speeding through three or five.
How do you engage with travel? What makes a good trip for you?

Once upon a time, I was told I wouldn’t be able to keep anything alive because I was not orderly enough. It wasn’t until I embraced my more organic process that I both succeeded and developed more structure in my approach.
A good reminder that we all thrive when we embrace who we are. Hope you appreciate all that is you today.

Good morning and happy Friday, lovely friends!
I’m very used to having to handle lots of things by myself - because I had to - and today I am realizing that maybe I can and should sometimes just relax and let other people do the figuring out. Part of the frustration (at this age and amongst my peers) is that as women we were sold the idea that not only could you do anything but you should do it all (which leads to totally undesirable and impossible results (burnout, resentment, etc). I think role flexibility is important because we aren’t neat boxes (I.e. my great grandmother was excellent at fixing neighbor’s toasters but a terrible cook) but I also think that doing it all, or doing it alone, is deeply unhealthy. And sometimes, I think we need help find out way back from the social currents that have sold us on a notion of hyper independence.
