I can't remember how many times I argued on the phone with underwriters in the corporate office when I was in insurance. Sometimes it was for newly widowed people trying to get a life insurance check. Sometimes it was for newly disabled people that paid premiums for years, but weren't paid when they should've been.
Then, following my first accident, Aon insurance sent me a letter saying I was "terminated due to disability" and proceeded to keep me from the majority of my residual income (retirement funds).
It's funny how a company who claimed to hold the principal "do the right thing, because it's the right thing to do", never did the right thing.

I am an advocate for Invisible Disability Rights, so when someone makes a comment that insults the disabled community, it's kind of my job to address it, enlightening the ignorant. I don't get paid for it, however. I rely on contriutions. The person said disabled people should be paid less than others. That is ignorant.
When I read your comment, it seemed as if you were comparing stupidity to autism. I'm glad to see that is not the case... doing so, would be "stupid". I wonder what other members of the autistic and disabled communities think.

Misogynistic Ablest Trans/Homophobic Racist Troll – Not a Love Story

Saturday night, I posted a self advocacy guide from the "Autistic "Self Advocacy Network", in the comments section of my article on US DOL disability wage exploitation. I promptly received a comment from "@ Leyonhjelm @ shitposter world", a.k.a ".@ leyonhjelm @ freespeechextremist .com". For those of you who are unaware, apparently the individual is the self proclaimed "Chief Supreme Court Justice of the Fediverse", according to their profile.
I usually just report/block and move on, but I was feeling frisky. I responded to the comment that read, "We should pay them less than we already do". I thought, perhaps they were referring to government representatives, so I asked for clarification. The follow-up response said, "the disabled. Less able, Less pay. Simple as." I was instantly upgraded from frisky, to feisty.
After having a look at this person's profile(s), I soon discovered, they seems to demonstrate a pattern of posting racist, misogynistic, and trans/homophobic rhetoric, as well as ablest slurs. When I saw that, and the use of the "R" slur against people with down syndrome, feisty was upgraded to furious. That word should be stricken from the language, unless it's referring to fireproof materials. I also found that the user and server was blocked on this instance (Kolektiva), but not by the other instance, where my "self advocacy" post originated. I thought a PSA to give people a heads up, was in order.
The screenshots below are blurred, but unedited, so if you don't want to see those words, please don't look. I'm certainly not going to repeat any of them, but they seem to indicate, that practicing every possible type of hatred, is the sole reason for existence of profiles and servers like this. Posting comments about feminism and trans people, using slurs against POC and the disabled, then bragging about it, certainly leaves no doubt. Why are such accounts and servers allowed to be federated within Mastodon?
There's a lot of answers to that question. Here's one. "313 Chris admin @ DetroitRiotCity . com" bragged on a public post displayed on the profile of the commenter, saying : "We bullied at least one dip shit from the NAS this afternoon. And I also used the "redacted – racial slur" with some broad from some Masto instance". This is a server administrator is allowed by Mastodon, to run instance.
I'll be expanding on this subject in a blog post on ableism and hate on Mastodon. I've had several experiences with this, and similar behaviors, as well as, positive and negative interactions with various server administrators, in regard. Sure, this stuff does exist on some of our "Ex" social media sites, but I think many will agree, it has no place here. Based on many conversations I've had with many Mastodonians, I think there's more that can be done, and so do others.
Ultimately, I responded to the comment, that people with disabilities should receive "less pay", in Québecois and Norwegian . I did not offer an English or "ignorant American" translation, at first. Because of great moderation at Kolektiva social, the commenters post was not visible with my response. It makes much more sense when you can see the whole story.
Part of the goal of people like this, seems to be to distract those working for change, and to distract from the original issue of discussion – US Department of Labor FSLA section 14 (c), legal exploitation of workers with disabilities, was the topic. Don't let ass hat fascist like this, win the battle for disability "EOE" in regard to wages. I hear there's a few in DC.

Tonight, there will be a full harvest "Supermoon", and partial lunar eclipse, all rolled into one. The moon will appear full for nearly 3 days. Earth's shadow will begin obscuring the moon at 8:41 PM Eastern time, however it will be hard to see until about 10:13 PM, when "… the top edge of the Moon starts entering the full shadow." 10:35 PM EST is the official "full moon", but "from Newfoundland and Greenland Time eastward across Eurasia, Africa, and Australia to the International Date Line", it will be Wednesday. Did you catch that all my #Aussie lovelys?
According to Gordon Johnson, on the NASA website, tonight's full moon, "… is a Partial Lunar Eclipse; a SuperMoon; the Corn Moon; the Harvest Moon; the Fruit or Barley Moon; the end of Ganesh Chaturthi and the start of Pitru Paksha; Madhu Purnima; the Mid-Autumn, Mooncake, or Reunion Festival Moon; Chuseok; and Imomeigetsu or the Potato Harvest Moon."

Kindness is an amazing thing:
When others need it, and you're the one providing, that wonderful feeling can be hard to explain. It's one of the most uplifting and rewarding sensations for the soul - even healing. I'm thankful to those that have accepted my kindness, allowing me to experience that.
When you're the one who needs it, and somebody is kind, it can be like they've switched a light on, in the darkest of rooms. Thank you to those who've extended their kindness, giving me strength to continue climbing out of the mire.
With the positive effect it has on both, the giver and receiver, I wonder why more people don't practice it every day.

"Deaths of People with Disabilities Surge in Spain, As Does the Heat" – Human Rights Watch
People with physical and invisible disabilities are affected by heat in many different ways. Extreme heat in Spain, has taken the lives of approximately 1200 people since mid-July. The number of which are disabled, is unclear, but during the 2021 "heat dome" in British Columbia, Canada, 91% of those who died were disabled or chronically ill. I know heat certainly affects me. How does it affect you in relation to your disabilities?
The "Human Rights Watch" article linked below, reports on "the serious physical and mental health consequences heat has for people with disabilities". During their study of disabled residents of Andalusia, they found issues including: "gaps in public responses to protect the disabled... A lack of outreach services… and lack of data" about people with disabilities.
The "HRW" also cites a "LACK OF PARTICIPATION OF PEOPLE WITH DISABILITIES IN SHAPING RESPONSES". People's hesitance to share disability related info for statistics is understandable, but advocacy and activism from the community is a key part in bringing change. Stand up, speak out and unite for disability rights and climate change. #DisabilitySolidarity
