from experience, getting to a good StumpWM setup is a huge time-sink, it’s always wound up feeling better to use something minimal like cwm or sway and configure it to keep out of Emacs way (generally that just means using super as its command key).

I’m reading @npub1fdr…lvhs ’s “Walkaway” as my holiday book. I lived through the period where Free Software became Open Source, and the rise of what I’d call “performative open source” for internet points. The early discussions twix Limpopo, Etc and the others ring so many bells that the decision of a major character to change her name to Iceweasel made me chuckle out loud.

- I don't do any work, but simply claim to achieved the end result, despite being profoundly unqualified to make such a claim.
- You credit me with whatever I claim.
- You give a prize (let's say a Phd from the University of FIFA and something made of gold).

I haven’t written any papers with anyone. Is my number 0? I would think not, as that would make me Erdos. It cannot be a finite integer greater than the largest number of a person with a non negative number, because that relationship is undefined. Is it a small infinity? A large one? Feels like there’s a paper in this.
Also, do you think my lack of papers harms my chances of winning a Fields medal? Should I hold out for a FIFA maths prize?

all of the file names from Microsoft office that end in X (docx, xlsx, pptx) are actually zip files full of XML and embedded assets. If you change the file extension from .pptx to .zip you should be able to unzip it and look inside. The file formats are a bit convoluted, but with a bit of searching you should be able to find the content

very few people seem to believe the “trickle down” myth any more, but the “balance the books” one is deeply rooted. A proper economic education, in national curriculums, would be a game changer, but no government ever seems to want that. Can’t imagine why!

what are you suggesting that people do instead? It's fine and good to lay criticism at the feet of people, but dissuading people from voting from the only one of two viable options that isn't the root cause of that state of affairs seems counter-productive at best.
