I'm assuming you meant to reply to the note where I quoted myself. From your reply, I think @nprofile…9n82 found an elegant solution of just hosting his own blossom server, he mentioned something along those lines in his reply. Unfortunately, not everyone can afford or manage that. Is there a way to request for a specific object to be preserved permanently on a public blossom server?
I read Wavlake's policy and user agreement yesterday. It's much more professional and conservative in terms of what's permitted on the platform. Made me hold off on choosing what I'll be posting there. Sometimes I work on things without knowing the actual source of the sample just because the sample sounded good 😂 (samples that I maybe came across on twitter or something like that). I have actually seen Lupe Fiasco release a whole song using a sample he found on twitter before. I just don't know how he determined whether it was safe to use or how he figured out how to clear it if it required clearance.

That makes sense. I kept wondering whether it could be used as a means of distribution since I come across copyrighted music at times. Makes me question why anyone would post music they don't own the copyright to though: considering zaps could count as a commercial gain. That's crazy 😅 It's a nice feature all in all. I noticed you can even attach lyrics or credits.

Also, when using Amethyst on Android, there is a music section in the menu. You can apparently upload music besides to listening to it. Does anyone know where the music is being uploaded? Does it go to a service like Wavlake? Or is just treated like any other note posted on Amethyst and distributed across your subscribed Relays? I have been seeing some copyrighted works there so it kind of spark my interest. I've come across some of NWAs music for example. #musicstr #grownostr #asknostr

I tried Wavlake earlier today after it was suggested in one comment. It gave me a bit of a headache just setting everything up because at first I kept trying to use my nostr but apparently I can't upload (use the studio) when I login that way. I was planning on toying with it tonight; now that I've set up everything correctly using my gmail instead. But with your explanation, perhaps I need to hold off and re-evaluate whether it's ideal to use it for throwaways and demos. Sounds like it works better for final masters? The music I skimmed through really did sound a bit more refined than I had expected 😅 seems most people use it for actual releases only.
On the notes approach. Have you had much interaction from other accounts? How is the reception? I'm relatively new here so I was hoping the music route might help me with interactions. I get some interactions sometimes but it's more hit and miss. Of course, I'll check out your profile to appreciate what you're saying better; I'm assuming you use this same profile for sharing stuff from your station.

I just came back to say that Rethink chaining with Karing might actually be even better. I just recently discovered Karing (https://github.com/KaringX/karing). It supports more protocols and config formats, and it has some other features like filtering hosts from a subscription via regex.

I will try my best to stick to this one. I've done my best to set it up properly. Unlike the other one. But this is definitely convenient. I have used the current pair on a couple of nostr sites, so I get the general idea now. It's actually a brilliant design to be honest.

This is so embarrassing 😂😂 I just found out I have a nostr account from 7 months ago that I have never used to post anything. I found a key pair in my BitWarden's secure notes and I was like wait a minute, this looks so "familiar". If memory serves me right, this should be from the time I tried out Shakespeare. I think at the time I just received the keys and did not realize I could use them across other apps. So, this time around I created another set of keys as I wanted to access nostr and everything it has to offer not knowing I already have a set of keys 🤣🤣🤣💀 #plebchain #grownostr

I find orbot kind of slow. I have tried chaining it behind rethink before but I just couldn't bear the speeds. I guess I will stick with this setup then. It can be quite a lot on the battery at times though 😅 or I just need a new battery, I've had the phone for quite a while.

Yet, somehow, we had the best performing stock market worldwide apparently last year. That's crazy. You can't even renew a Spotify subscription without reaching out to the bank due to a shortage of forex but banks were some of the best performing entities on the stock market. Make it make sense.

So I just moved to this neighborhood last month and the bus fairs are the funniest. They don't make sense.
Going to town costs me either 4,000 or 3,500. But 3,500 seems to be the norm since you can talk them down from 4000. When you are lucky, some will charge you 3,000 without even any negotiations.
The same trip, when I am coming from work is either 2,500 or 3,000.
Mind you its the exact same distance 🤣 its not like somehow the route is gaining a few kilometers or something.

Blantyre has been pretty cold since Saturday. What in the hell is going on? Normally, we should be moving away from the cold weather at this point in Malawi. The cold weather being from May to July. But I can almost guarantee that it's much colder now.

Yesterday, after dropping off by the bus stage where I stay, I stopped by the public urinals before heading home. This douche came right next to me, talking on his phone and staring right down at me, without ever opening his zipper or anything. Just stood there casually. Very weird guy. TLS ISSUES ON WINDOWS SERVER 2012 STANDARD
A consultant working for one of our clients issued a complaint that they couldn't receive a response from our api during tests when initiating the request from their application as opposed to running it from postman, which was returning HTTP response code 200 without any issues. After capturing packets of the SSL Handshake the issue was identified and resolved. Below is a breakdown of what was happening and how I resolved it:
1. The client application had a very restricted cipher suite list in it's client hello packet that only had 8 GCM cipher suites.
2. The server was configured with an RSA certificate from letsencrypt which supported some GCM suites but the OS itself did not support this RSA GCM suite so it could not be offered in server hello packets during a TLS Handshake.
3. The mismatch between the cipher suites caused the connection to be terminated on the server side as it had nothing to offer the client's application. Other software such as Firefox Browser, Bruno and Firefox support a larger pool of cipher suites and were able to connect to the server via an RSA CBC suite: TLS_RSA_WITH_AES_128_CBC_SHA
4. Since the OS did not support any RSA GCM suite, the solution was to revoke the old RSA cert, issue an ECDSA cert, and increase order of priority of GCM suites in Schannel to be above CBC suites.
5. After a server restart, the server started offering a GCM cipher suite: TLS_ECDHE_ECDSA_WITH_AES_256_GCM_SHA384
That resolved the issue for the client.
Shortly after, it was noted that SQL Server Management could no longer connect to the database. Upon troubleshooting, it was noted that the IIS Crypto which was used to alter the Schannel disabled all TLS protocols except TLS 1.2, when it was instructed to set the default recommended security settings for Windows Server 2012, which was unfortunately not supported by the currently installed MSSQL version.
Upgrading MSSQL 2008 from 10.0.1600.22 SP 0 Patch Level: 10.0.1600.22 to 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6535.0 allowed MSSQL to support TLS 1.2, consequently fixing the issue. Initially, it only supported TLS 1.0.
The upgrades were done in the following order:
A. 10.0.1600.22 SP 0 Patch Level: 10.0.1600.22 —> 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6000.29
B. 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6000.29 —> 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6241.0
C. 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6241.0 —> 10.0.6000.29 SP 4 Patch Level: 10.4.6535.0
N.B: Every patch requires a restart of the whole OS for changes to take effect. The system will not allow a patch to be applied after another without a restart.
This was basically a typical issue caused by running legacy systems in production. Most of the infrastructure was initially accessible only via VPN so some best practices were neglected back in the day. By the time I was recruited, the firm had expanded to accommodating clients from all over Africa; of which, for some, direct access over the internet to our services was paramount. This lead to a lot changes in how clients access our services. I doubt this will be the end of such patches, ideally all servers should just be updated to a supported Windows Server edition, but a mass update like that without considering the legacy tech stack just isn't advisable either. One step at a time it is. I kind of like the experience I gained through it all though.

Just found a text on my department's WhatsApp group, from 4am, my manager asking me to install some IIS module on some Windows Server. For starters, that's 4am, work starts at 8am. It's a Monday. Secondly, this is not my project. Someone took over in 2024, and he's currently taken over said person. Also, he could easily do it himself if he has time to be online at 4am giving out instructions. Lastly, he could easily wait for the day to start and give out these instructions at work, or if he won't be in office, he can send communications during working hours.
This shit is ridiculous. Type of things that have me contemplating deleting whatsapp. This my personal line.

I am sure I just had a dream that is a continuation of a dream I once had perhaps months ago.
The catch is, it is a dream about time traveling. And, I do not know any of the characters in this reality, I am not even myself (Audrey), I appear to be a different character. However, the story is much more significant than the one in this current lifetime. There is much more at stake in the dream. I only seem to remember the characters once I am in the dream. When I wake up, I kind of have a headache. I am afraid I might be messing things up by dreaming of this place months apart, it feels like there is so much happening in that place that needs me to hold it together. Does everything stop when I am awake? If so, then why would I have these dreams so far apart in this reality?

Not necessarily, I've come across situations where HRs actually exchanged emails about an applicant one was considering recruiting. The problem with this approach, however, is that it assumes the HR being asked for a recommendation will be truthful or has no negative bias towards the applicant. Human relations will always be marred by the fact that we are human; we are not always objective, not even in professional matters.
