It finally happened, I managed to make a few short videos to show the client. It’s a pre-release but it’s out at https://github.com/marcobtcnostr/narratives
For the adventurous it’s probably better to test it with a disposable nsec.

I think both should be included but, in a sense, data is novel and everyone is a potential seller.
Every person with a digital device produces data every day just by using the device (basically free). That data is valuable and all we do with it is let everyone else collect them, aggregate them, study them and give them back or sell them back to us in the form of a product. If those data were saved and accumulated by the users in a private database/relay and the users had a potential to sell them directly, then perhaps also the average person will have an incentive to care about their data and consider how it is used by others. Also, reading the analysis of your own data tells a lot about you and it’s fascinating. @npub1l2v…ajft I showed you #Narratives last week, which already includes the browser extension and AI summaries and more, NOT to just grab it, share it half baked (alpha version), take the credits for it and disappear!
Why do you have to do this as your idea instead of collaborating on what I already had and do it faster together? I worked on this for the past 6 months never taking a brake and shared it for some support! This was (is still) the project I want to use to get out of the FIAT system and work on something actually meaningful! It’s not easy and I would have expected you to help given your public posts and our private chat!
How does one go from “how can I help you?”, “would you share your ideas in a podcast?” to not even reply to my 1500£ offer to work on this together?
It’s disappointing to see how you behave in podcasts and videos in the public and how you behave when the lights are off!
I hope other developers will be wary about contacting you for help and will not share their work with you. It will demotivated them!

Your initial support might help shape the projects and ensure their “business models” would be “ethical” (according to the board) to begin with.
Having a few of these apps working well can pave the road for others and incentivate to build more on #Nostr sustainability
I have one (narratives.social) with a good chance of succeeding but for now it’s still quite “amatoriale” in the way it’s been built

Can you take streaming requests from the plebs? This could be a feature of live.snort.social @npub1v0l…qj49 (possibly also with a time reminder)
User send a draft request for a video (or optionally send the draft to an AI which generates a better draft of the video)
If the video is also saved somewhere I can then use highlighter or similar apps to get the transcript and share the key parts of the content.

As a light take, I think I would prefer to have the capability integrated in the client so that I can use it also on data that do not come from a Nostr note. I think clients can be more flexible with what they show in the interface and they could be quite different from how they are now (twitter-like). I have some cool or crazy ideas on this.
Listening different Nostr podcasts/discussions I understood that it would be nice to have many micro apps/clients each with its unique features. And features could be quite different so it might be more practical to have them in the client rather than the protocol. If building a client gets easy enough it wouldn’t surprise me if someone from Naples would make a new client just to have Maradona’s background on it.
But my background is in aerospace engineering and I’m studying Nostr and web development stuff in my free time since February so I’m not an expert. Please correct me if I’m wrong 🙏

Can #Nostr clients adopt a somewhat similar “business model”, e.g. hold a small percentage of the zaps sent from a client, maybe with a cap of 5000 sats/year (~1$/year). Or are there technical obstacles to this?
🤞 user adoption will increase enough to make it sustainable for a client to earn enough to sustain a few developers and their families.
How do Nostr dev live? Do most dev have other jobs?
I am working on a client in my free time and I’m considering applying to #[5] but I do not like too much the idea of relying on others generous donations.
Any input/suggestions will be greatly appreciated

#[0] I have 2 features I think would be interesting:
1) option to display posting frequency in the user profile (1 post/day vs 1post/h). This might help me understand if a creator is “spamming” for attention and visibility or is publishing the content I am looking for.
2) follow for a week/month + renew. For example I do not know yet if I really want to follow #[1] it will depend on the content she will publish next. If the content is good I will renew, otherwise I will think she just made a good post once and now I can focus on others
