A long thought piece on capitalist reality vs our reality. Psychological, social, planet. At every level the system fails us and stands in contrast to our needs.

could it be that capitalist realism isn't at all real?
Working class folk can feel the real, we are crushed by it every day

It's one thing to correctly see the Democrats as hugely problematic and supporting many horrors, it's quite another thing to boldly assert that the Republicans in their current form are the equals of the Democrats. It's simply not true. A kinder torturer is still a better thing than a crueler one, even if we wish to be rid of both

The US Military from top to bottom is following illegal orders. Time to take names and consider a future filled with courts and jails for many of the "following orders" brigade

I'd further note if we accept these arguments for proscription and labelling groups or individuals as terrorist then why aren't we applying the same criteria to Israel, Israel's supporters, pro-Israel groups, weapons suppliers etc

I've had a similar discussion with my local MP and at pains to point out that even if there is law breaking this is not the same as terrorism. We can agree or disagree on direct action and legality without the huge escalation of naming the activity/organisation as terrorist

Meanwhile on BBC News we have fully undisclosed talking heads from right wing think tanks and pro-Israel groups yacking away - without challenge or qualification regarding who they speak for - any time the BBC wants commentary on economics or Palestine. The double standards and class interests are shocking
The UK, the BBC and the Labour Party are a fucking disgrace

So fucking tired and angry with BBC and Labour Party bullshit about Palestine, and everything else too
Today's report critcizes the production company for not "disclosing" that the 13 year old narrator was the son of a "Hamas official", while acknowledging that not one word of what the child said was influenced by this relationship.
Labour Oberlieutenant Lisa Nandy refers to this as "a serious of catastrophic failures"

For the NHS to work properly it has to exist in a fully functioning welfare system. It cannot be the provider of last resort for a country that's given up on local government, social care, housing and all the other ways people need support during crisis periods of their lives

I think there's also a crude truth that Guardianistas, and liberals are onboard with globalisation, fear radical change as it would threaten their current privilege and security
Being morally shocked by Trump, Farage and Le Penn makes wonderful ratings while stocking Mick Lynch on a platform, not so much

I think it's fair to say the right has captured votes far more effectively than the left and our experiences of Corbynism and the way centrists have handle Sanders or "the squad" in US politics illustrates why
Billionaires and centrists (the right wing of Labour and the Democrats for example) will not tolerate a surge in the Left''s fortunes even if it means we get Farage, Le Penn and Trump

I can't come to terms with the simple facts that
America looked at a fascist
Saw a fascist
and CHOSE a fascist
I don't know how we recover from this but I hope and know that we will

Why is every single media outlet reporting the US Presidential debate as if one of the participants didn't shit his own pants and spout off about immigrants eating people's dogs?
Trump is a disgraceful human being with no redeeming or endearing qualities. He displayed this fully yet we still suffer

I returned to Twitter/x for a week, having previously binned it just prior to Musk buying it.
It is SO SO much worse than when I left. An absolute toxic, racist hellhole. There's racist pile ons for any prominent muslim posting, Humza Yousaf for example. The gobshites from the racist gutter press post incitements and "legitimate concerns" and get hundreds of racists joining in. I had to delete it, it's beyond harmful to be taking part in that. Twitter is a vehicle for fascism now

I'm not arguing AGAINST democracy, I'm saying that unless we start to deliver real democracy, freedom, equality and justice to the 99% then we will have fascism.
What we have called democracy over the last half century has been steadily undermined by the raw power of the 1%,. So yes we should all vote and fight fascists electorially, but we must also seek to remove the power, wealth and privilege of the 1% to undermine and co-opt fair society.

is it possible to say that liberal democracies haven't failed?
We have seen the moderate gains of the post war era rolled back, while the nation state, governments, trade unions, elections, political parties have all been smashed or co-opted to support the rich at all costs, while the planet has been sacrificed on their altar
The illusion of democracy being effective, fair and remotely in our favour, is gone. The rich will defend themselves with force now. Fascism

because liberal democracies have utterly failed, having nominally governed vast inequality, climate catastrophe and now open support for genocide. We hear cries to support democracy and the rule of law at a time when democracy fails us all and there is no law for the rich and powerful.
The rich and powerful fear that liberal democracy will no longer suffice to legitimate their wealth and power, and thus we are at the door of force, authority and raw power to defend their position
