addition: the white bar is actually part of the apps? as in, in the recent apps view it is gone from the notification bar but still shows up in the app previews everywhere. when apps block screen capture, like fdroid, fennec or signal the bar is not there.
it might have something to do with free form windows in the dev settings which i enabled and possibly took until this update's phone reboot to show this weird behaviour?

for some reason, after the update a white bar has appeared at the very top of the notification bar, partially obscured by the pixel 8's camera hole. it's visible everywhere as long as the device is unlocked, even when watching full screen videos, with the exception of the home screen and app drawer where it doesn't show up.. when the device is in horizontal mode the bar is also on the top corner so it's probably a notification drawer thing.

'Google messages uses this new app" implies that an app can send some kinda "hey, scan this for me please" command to the app so it's definetely not gonna be scanning signal chats or anything else without being specifically asked to do so?

would banning twitter be a ban on free speech or a step to preserve free speech by not letting a few billionaires take control over one of the biggest public spaces of discourse and setting the agenda through algorythms and setting the political climate through asserting rules and guidelines beyond what's strictly neccessary to remain within legal bounds?
i think tiktok isn't exactly a free speech platform itself. imo rather regulate than ban but idk..

yea, but he's literally "a dude you see grocery shopping or walkig down the street". She still has ear protection and what i assume is a cap to reduce glare or something so she doesn't look like someone who you'd just see crossing the street. Rationally your arguments are correct but perception is different.
