Still in 1977 – I found some pictures of someone who's been a friend since high school and she was delighted to see them. It eventually occured to me that I may never before have shared many of these pictures that I've looked at thousands of times over the years.
I'm fortunate that so many of my friends have been in my life, at one level or another, for so many, many years.

The problem is that anything newer than 2017 comes with too much touch-screen and serious privacy issues, and they're all expensive so we'll just run this into the ground.

I ran across this picture of the most important person in my life and keep feeling all the feelings over it. We were 18, and she was helping me out with a class project, glamming herself up in a way that she didn't ordinarily do then to pose for this picture (the purpose of which I've forgotten).
All I can see is: we were so young, and she is so beautiful. And still is, an awful lot of years later.

I'm definitely shallow, but as I'm about to hit 65 years of age, I was pretty pleased that without really aiming to do so, I set a new record going up a steepish (7.3%) climb today, one I've done at least 100 times before. It's also early in the ride, when I'm never really warmed up.

@nprofile…hqdl You might want to look into the Affinity Suite. It's inexpensive, works very similarly (but there is a bit of a learning curve), functions great. There are some things that made us keep the Adobe suite as well (I'm begging my wife to get off it), but Affinity is a very capable, vastly cheaper option that many creatives I know are using.

What if Scotia, NY's Glen-Sanders Mansion had no Glens, no Sanderses? That's what happened in 1963, when Mrs. Pearl Sanders sold the historic house dating to 1713. For years, it looked as if the mansion could be lost at any time.

@nprofile…q5q5 Despite the obsessive level of details that Discogs contributors have set down in the database, I have had endless trouble (and it's rarely worth it) making sure I'm recording exactly the right version. I've found plenty with matrix information that didn't quite gel with what others had seen – and especially on big releases like that one, the variations seem endless.

Do other #cyclists experience the phenomenon of the roadside washcloth? Okay, this one's more of a handtowel, but still . . . for the more than two decades I've been #cycling, I have always observed discarded/dropped/lost washcloths along the roadside. I always document the first roadside washcloth of the spring, but after that there are too many to catch them all.

Had the privilege this weekend of listening to an amazing singer-songwriter, Anna Spackman, whose most recent songs are beautiful, cutting, insightful, and somehow hopeful. Just released a live album from another show this year, "Sunlight Returning: Songs of Hope." Highly recommended.

Having a fairly successful #cycling season, up to 912 km (566 miles) on the year so far, despite missing out a bunch of June due to work and rain. Last year was not great at 1473 km total, so I'm pretty certain to beat that but need to keep telling myself to get out there! Just go! #roadcycling #roadbike #fitness

@nprofile…3jtt Haven't been to Taughannock in so long – but one of my kids was just up there. Understand they just made a lot of improvements to the trails. Saw a picture from earlier in the spring where the falls were raging even harder.

Ohhhh . . . yesterday I paddled what I'm pretty sure is my new boat. Made by Melker of Sweden, committed to sustainability in manufacture (it ain't easy), this baby is laid up with cork; the deck is made of flax. Yes, cork and flax. And resin that's at least partly plant-based. And it paddles like a dream.

@nprofile…4p29 The particulates would be measured (assuming all that monitoring money hasn't been gutted, which it may have been) primarily by the states with affected ports. I know NY, CA, and TX all do particulate monitoring, and TX (Galveston) in particular used to focus on their ship channel. Harder to separate from everything else in NY and CA ports. CO2 would not be directly measured but can be converted from the ship traffic numbers.

@npub12hx…g0au One town where we used to live touted their new kayak dock. Great. They made it accessible – not for kayakers, but for wheelchairs. Great. That meant they put in a low railing all around that made it utterly impossible to safely launch a kayak from. I just found a safe bit of shoreline to launch from instead.

@npub12hx…g0au I like that setup. I mostly avoid docks if I can. Most docks for motorboats that I've encountered are far, far too high for either of us to get in or out of our boats. If we can use it, on bigger water, or in boat traffic, the boat's just gonna get banged around against the dock anyway, so if I can get out, I'll pull it out.
