You find and follow and join communities of people who agree with you on literally everything, and then a lot of people can't stand with dealing with anyone in real life that disagrees with them on anything.
The same people who complain about loneliness are people who cut off their entire social circle that they grew up in over politics. They complain about everyone in their life being too normie and become terminally online. They reduce their job to "just a paycheck" and refuse any interaction with coworkers outside of work.
Nostr doesn't (inherently) fix this. People on here do the same thing. They call their job a fiat mine and everyone around them a normie.
Its not actually hard to find friends irl. Stop looking for people who are mentally identical to you. 80% of the accounts on here (and other SM} could be replaced with an AI. I can read the same post and predict their every opinion that they type thinking they had a unique thought. Find people who share your interests, not your exact values. Its not hard. If you have a job you probably have a ton of people there who your forced to interact with daily who do the same thing. Find one that's chill and you share a hobby with. Then you can meet more from there through the people they know and so on.
If you actually friendmaxx like this you will soon find the 5 people in your whole city who share both your interests and values, which is what you were looking for to begin with. You don't need to be extroverted at all to do this. You aren't starting from randoms on the street. The first guys you are talking are people who you already know and talk with.

Would it not be better to do it client side so you don't have to worry about a relay deciding to publish your post before you asked it to, or maybe they didn't receive your deletion request, or failed to delete for some reason? I personally would rather rely on a background process on my phone than a relay, especially since most people use relays they don't know and verify.

What I meant is that by letting authors choose a relay that can police their own replies, they can essentially police their own replies. This will opens the door to no one being able to reply in a way that the original note author dislikes. This will be used by public figures controlling their replies to manufacture consent and a step back from twitter and any other centralized platform where you can see people shitting on public figures in the replies.

Every institution has an innate desire to grow. Rather than stay at a sustainable level, they expand whenever they have a surplus and resort to more and more pushy means when to match the previous year, or even their previous year + expectations of growth.
It takes genuine self control and backbone to resist this. You need to stand up to the congregation and tell them you won't have free coffee like the other masjids. You need to tell your imam that he needs to keep driving uber on the side even though the masjid has the money to pay him for the year. No one wants to be seen as stingy.
These forces exist even in small business, and it's much more difficult to control when you have a whole board instead of a single leader, and they control donated money.

Privacy is a weakest link system. If a single person who has access broadcasts it, you're no longer private. This is somewhat alleviated in centralized platforms where, since the delivery layer is a monopoly, the leaker needs a separate platform to broadcast on, that normal people won't check, since their clients only read from the centralized server. With nostr, anyone you give access will be able to broadcast to any relay they want, and other users will be able to read your notes from those relays by default from any client.
Nostr is unable to hide fundamental realities, much worse than a centralized platform can. The fundamental reality is, once data leaves you and goes to someone, you are at their mercy in regards to them sharing it with literally everyone. This is obviously unsustainable beyond a few close friends that you really trust, at which point you should be just using a private group chat.
Centralized platforms can put some barriers in place through client side Inconveniences such as snapchat blocking screenshots, but it's nothing but a minor hurdle, and with the open client marketplace, it's completely impossible on nostr, since clients compete on providing the best experience for you. If there was a way to mark a post to be unscreenshottable, no client would implement it, and those that do would be beat out by those that don't, because people will choose the client that doesn't limit them.

I did think of the use case, but I think it's far less necessary than you'd think. There are libraries to check current state, but checking distance to state borders is much more complex.
While many people live near borders, not that many people actually cross the borders every day, to the point that it'd be necessary to download by default. In philly for example, it's only a bridge away from Camden NJ, but I've noticed from license plates that there is rarely ever a car from the other side on either side. Most cities on borders are separated by a toll bridge and people rarely cross day to day.
Also, everyone has unlimited data nowadays. You can just hit them with the "would you like to download this states map?" modal when you see them in another state.

An ally is no use in a fight if they are shooting the wrong direction. Most videos are about singling out a company and blaming their greed. They never look at the underlying reasons to why they got to that position. They don't look at the regulatory capture preventing competition. They just pretend it's a fact of life that the company has 100% market share, say that it will forever be that way (even though we have seen many examples of large companies losing to newer competitors), and present the solution as a new law from one of their politicians that specifically bans one of the things the company does.
An example of a better creator is Louis Rossmann. He has a fraction of the reach of MPU, but he has far more impact and has directly affected legislation to increase freedom. He calls out specific companies when they do evil shit, he runs a tech repair business so he focuses a lot on that side, but actually knows what he's talking about. He knows why businesses leave NYC, because he was one. The MPU video literally pinned the struggle of the entire restaurant industry on Sysco, which I can personally tell you is bullshit. And the most important thing is that at least he is honest, when you know MPU isn't.

Agree. I hate financial advise that relies on swimming against the current. Bitcoin is better than fiat because there is a current pushing fiat to zero. But similarly, bitcoin that just sits there will never be able to compete with a cash flowing asset such as a non-vacant house (even if you rent it to yourself).
There is no difference between the 2 mindsets. On average and a long enough time frame, bitcoin will always outperform the melting dollar, but not outperform a cash flowing asset like a house.

Compact block relay. Basically speeds up syncing by not downloading TXs in new blocks that you already have in your mempool. Everyone was claiming you needed everything in your mempool or you would sync slower because you'd need to download the TXs that you filtered out. Now this point was bullshit, but even this doesn't apply to your proposal.
I can see your point being somewhat useful for almost valid TXs that will be valid in a few hours, but anything more than that is not useful because you don't know the fee rate in the future.
Who is gonna find this useful? It's like setting a limit buy order for a stock in the future. If you set it too high, you will overpay, if you set it low, it's not gonna go through. You will either overpay or have a high chance of it not going through in a reasonable time frame. The further in the future, the worse this problem gets.
There's also the issue with no cost mempool spam from bad actors. Imagine if there wasn't a minimum feerate for the mempool. A bad actor could just print a billion TXs to himself to bloat the mempool. The mempool can only persist as a free public service if there's a cost to using it. Currently, in order to have the mempool store your TX, your TX needs to have a decent likelihood of paying TX fees. Even though that fee doesn't go to node runners, it is still a cost associated with taking their mempool space, it's a cost that adds up if you try to put a million TXs in the mempool. You essentially have to take a 20-50% chance of paying .25 - 1 sat/byte of mempool space you take up for 2 weeks (how long TXs stay before bring dropped). This comes out to about .25 sats/byte/month of spam. This is already cheap for any wealthy actors to spam the mempool. Now if you instead allow TXs 1 year before they are valid, you are now cheapening the cost by a factor of 26.
The mempool isn't made for long term storage. Many different aspects of its design (TTL, TX propagation, node economics, fee rate fluctuations etc.) fall apart if you try to make it useful for such purposes. You'd have to rework it completely to the point that you'd have something else entirely that doesn't resemble the mempool you know today. This could be made into an entirely separate decentralized service disconnected from bitcoin core, but it's not what the mempool is for.

The mempool is a working memory of transactions that could end up in a block soon. The biggest argument used against filters was CBR and nodes not having potential TXs in their memory syncing slower. This doesn't even have that problem since the TX can't show up in a TX in the near future.
Why are nodes providing long term storage to users? They can't even estimate fees in the future so it's a high likelyhood that the TX will be underfunded when the time comes anyways, or the user will drastically overpay for it. You shouldn't be signing TXs ahead of time like that.
And for what benefit?

Then now that the party is over, they are acting like they weren't voluntarily attending these parties for years with their parents knowledge.
Everyone is looking for the satanic pedophiles conspiracy to come out, but that is probably relegated to the island, if not completely unrelated to Epstein, if it's even true (probably is). Epstein being a Mossad agent collecting blackmail doesn't have to be the same conspiracy as the satanic pedophile cult ritually raping and murdering children.
IMO being close with Epstein and attending his NYC parties is about the same level as the Monica Lewinsky scandal. It's not all satanic pedophiles.

It's kinda the same deal if you have any other income other than bitcoin gains. Essentially you can sell without capital gains up to the limit of your total federal tax burden.
Say you owe 10k in taxes (from your fiat mine job).
Pay the 10k in bitcoin.
Use the fiat that you would've spend on taxes, to instead rebuy bitcoin.
You just increased your cost basis for free.

I am skeptical of 🍐
I opened a room with just 2 of my computers on the same wifi. Started a large file transfer and for some reason it's limited by my ISP bandwidth. Why tf? It's supposed to be peer 2 peer. It should be fully LAN, going at the speed of my router.
Also it's closed source so I'm thinking they might just be routing through servers so it looks like it works better than it does.

I think the market demand for war movies is less from consumers and more from the government. The legitimacy of the state relies on every war since WW1 to be framed as good vs evil. That is necessary to keep the country united under neoliberal rule.
Civil war movie is less necessary now that racism propaganda is out of fashion. Also now that the country is more divided than ever and secession is popular again, a civil war movie would just push that division further.
