At some point you must look at stocks and look for the real return not just nominal. And truth is we are told a lie about the true inflation (ex this ex that) and then are suppose to trust the nominal and real numbers we are fed by the govt. Like the saying goes “don’t trust, verify”
Stop listening to the macro analysts and verify your own experience with inflation and then decide if you think your returns have kept pace with inflation.

Scam seems a bit much especially when 3 of the most innovative companies aren't listed in this arguement. SpaceX, StarLink, Tesla and not to mention Neuralink. Say what you want about Tesla but the "FSD" on Tesla is pretty insane compared to anything on the road.
With SpaceX and Starlink same arguements can be made. Just don't see how these are scams.

If they decide they want it they will get it. Question with self custody is how long you think you can hold out and if the pain is worth the hold. Flip side if it’s mass adoption then govt also has a problem, how hard can they push when the populous wants to keep their bitcoin. The real battle is in education and mass adoption (self custody) before the ETF’s take over

It’s a fair question to ask. Depends on your perspective, if Bitcoin is meant as an exit from fiat then answer is NEVER. If it's an insurance policy for debasement then sell when you can trust debasement is over.

I always wrestle with the question of if bitcoin does too well it’s just as much of a problem for those that own it because surely there will be consequences.
Suggests to one there’s power in numbers and best way to prevent this outcome is radically increasing public awareness and adoption of Bitcoin through self custody.
Can the govt track Bitcoin is the question you raised. Feels like all the KYC and legal requirement to share transactions almost surely makes sure all the new purchasers are tracked.
Hence the only people who can “HODL the gold bars for 40 years” are those who really kept strict anonymity during their HODL’ing
Rest must rely on political measures to ensure safety of their assets.

Also was it confiscation at bank level or at individual level? Just trying to understand how this actually worked.

What Saylor said about the confiscation of gold really gets me and leads to a wider point, which I struggle with a lot when I comes to self custody. Assuming you self custody Bitcoin and the govt declares it illegal to hold bitcoin, what do you do now? Yes you have your bitcoin, but now you are taking massive legal risk holding onto it. If you live in a chaotic state, i can see a reason to leave, but lets assume its US (in current social status) and you have a family and yes economocally things are falling apart which may lead to unrest but there is no place in the world you would rather go either (personal view of this exercise). Realistically I feel most people would turn in the bitcoin due to the level of punishments which would be associated with not doing so. So in this case, whats the difference between self custody and custodial? Curious what you think

Current state of the world : DXY 103.98, SPY / QQQ / GOLD - ATH, Bitcoin $5k from ATH, inflation "2.3%", Residential Homes - ATH, 401k Portfolios ATH, Debt to GDP 122.3%, Fed Fund Rate 4.75% - 5%.

The fed just started their rate cutting cycle and the market has a fairly optimistic scenario priced in. But here's the funny part, since the rate cut cycle began the long end is puking and starting to spike. The 10Y is now at 4.19% as of today. If you’re getting 5.5% with a cash like instrument you are not going to want the long duration treasury at 4% recognizing that the treasury reduces sales of longer duration and feeds the short duration need. If treasury was to sell more longer duration the market would want a higher rate which the fed / treasury does not want right now. When they reduce front end rates then the long end will be more valuable. Unless inflation picks up. Then if treasury want to go out into the direction curve the market may demand higher rates. The treasury again has a choice pump more short term tbills until someone comes to the table who is willing to own longer duration. There has to be some incentive to do so (higher rates is usually the incentive for holding duration).
