English follow-up to a story I first posted in Spanish from Paraguay.
30 days ago I started a new living arrangement in a new building in Paraguay.
Here, the doormen do not bring delivery upstairs.
So I started a small experiment.
There is an 11-year-old kid I talk to quite a lot.
One day he told me something I have not forgotten:
“Here the government, Giovanni,
wants us all to be non-self-sufficient,

and they can push anything on us.”

So I proposed this:

and I pay him in guaraníes.
Also,
we go to Banco Ueno
and open a kids account for him.
Second week,

and pay him in sats.

he chooses.

I zap and bookmark. Two clicks to archive what should be done with one.
If you want to bookmark, you have to zap, even 1 sat. If you want to be remembered, you need to set a lightning address.

True, I should not have mentioned Alby. But my statement about the massive use of WoS is still valid. I tried Blixt but it doesn´t work (yet?) for zaps because you can´t have a lightning address on their Neutrino node. LNbits requires LND or I'm wrong? Looking at the amount of WoS it's clear that people are reluctant to run their own LN node.

The bad aspect is that 90% of us are zapping from/to wallet of satoshi or alby. I’ve been one of them for some weeks. Big blockers weren’t that wrong in the end 🥲.

Can someone explain me the reason of tens or hundreds of 0 sats not paid invoices on my node? I’m not sure it’s related to Nostr but I suspect that, since the only use of that node until now is a lightning address I provided for zaps on Nostr.

On the hodl hodl platform you open a trade to sell bitcoins to an existing Buy advertisement for the amount of the invoice you want to pay. When you are asked to provide the payment details, you give the details to pay the invoice. Buyer pays. The person expecting the invoice to be paid confirms the received payment. You release the bitcoins. You can do the same without the escrow offered by the platform with buyers you know personally and trust. I pay rents, professional services and other stuff this way, in countries where I don’t have a bank account.

I use a mix of everything you mentioned plus hodl hodl buyers or buyers that I know directly, to pay directly my invoices.
I’m pretty sure I loose sometimes but I don’t keep any records. I guess in the long term I’m gaining.

I found Iris on TestFlight better than Damus official version: no spam in the global feed with the same relays and I can search for nip-05 which I don’t find on Damus.

I think I found out the reason. People following me on Iris but not on Damus, accordingly to Damus and coracle.social, are not connected to any relay at the moment, although seams odd.

I have the same relays on Damus and Iris.to but different followers count. Both clients had plenty of time to build the cache 🤔
