Swapped cables, btw. It seems to be whatever audio handshake the AppleTV is doing to the TV and indirectly to Sonos. Fixed audio output on the AppleTV to Dolby Digital 5.1, and nothing's happened since. So...oh well. At least I get a new HDMI 2.1 cable out of it…

Plex stuttering issue is still happening. I actually am starting to think it's an AppleTV/Sonos issue. Stuttering is happening across multiple apps, but not happening with the PS5 (different HDMI input). Sonos is a playbase so it's not HDMI and is connected through digital audio, so not the connection there. Either the HDMI port on the TV connected to the AppleTV is borked or the HDMI cable is borked. *sigh*

Oh, those still work? I had an Echo wall clock and while I loved it, Amazon stopped supporting it and once in started glitching there was no way to fix it afaik. I ended up tossing mine. I saw someone post somewhere that they call this period up until the New Year “The Abyss” and as I lie here in bed having not moved for the last two hours but also having done nothing of circumstance, I kinda get it. I also just think that for me, moderation and privacy run quite differently on both platforms. Hard not to feel that the way blocking and privacy work on BlueSky people have signed up for the very things they had issues with on X, out of some belief that they have control over the platform. Masto has its own issues with platform-wide moderation, but I have to admit the granular controls are much more intentional

I do think that part of it has to do with who controls both platforms as well. The federated nature of Mastodon means that most servers are run by tech-savvy people, for tech-savvy people. BlueSky, for various reasons, is a platform "bequeathed upon" its users. So it makes sense that the latter aims at a more general audience vs. Masto, but you're right that in both cases it feels like as a result“federation" ends up feeling muddled and oddly territorial.

nah luckily it’s an apartment so at least I’m not paying. They’re doing construction to convert the mill building next door so I think they’re pulling some of the same staff to do this, so I hope the complex itself saves some money. It’s just disruptive and I hope they put it all back the way it was lol

It’s already being a week. When I moved in there was an unnoticed clog in the HVAC system which made water overflow in my apartment. It got into the floor and made the wood core swell and push up the concrete. Maintenance determined that the solution is to rip up the floor and cut into the concrete, diagnose the issue and fix the flooring. Luckily the problem is ok, but the disruption this week is already throwing me off. HVAC and washer/dryer are out, main work starts at 7am tomorrow 😭

It's worth reminding that Republicans never came up with an actual alternative to the ACA. The best they had was Paul Ryan's plan, which allowed insurance companies to not insure people with pre-existing conditions to drive down premiums for healthy people but forcing people with those conditions into high risk insurance groups that insured them out of a fixed pot of money determined by Congress.
