I have been pretty offline due to ongoing postpartum health Stuff but just popping up to say how grateful I am to live in a time when croup is a minor scary instead of a terrifying and frequently deadly thing. Vaccines and dexamethasone are miracles.
Another miracle, he petted the spicy cat 🐈 today without grabbing her (much, anyway, lol 🥹❤️)

i remember one of my first trips home to canada in 2011 after moving to the US. I was riding the bus back into Toronto from the airport (before there was a train!) and there was a sign for a newcomer settlement service (settlement.org I think!) that said “you belong here” and I just burst into tears. I remember it so distinctly a decade later ❤️🇨🇦😭

i will say though that I'm _very_ confused by the GCKey system, as someone who after today will be up to 3 Canadian non-profits and one for-profit entity to deal with… am I supposed to make one for each? or one for each different service??? idk and I just end up logging in with Interac/my bank instead lolsob

to give you an idea… the IRS just added the ability to make an account like 2-3 years ago, and it lets you print out what are clearly mainframe-output transcripts of past filings
the Biden admin made honestly incredible progress with IRS infra in their few years in power - the IRS had previously been blocked from using things like… OCR. By law.

People love to complain about the CRA, because taxes duh, but their public documentation is SO GOOD. I think both feds and provinces have jurisdiction here. Ontario cons are probably worthless on the topic so I wouldn’t waste too much time there, outside Quebec the feds are much more likely to act
