Sure, but those are pretty much the same arguments used against BTC early on, and even today to some extent.
Vast majority of vendors don't accept bitcoin, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't work towards using it as a payment mechanism.

I think spending is a good way to test out and encourage development of bitcoin spending technology. If done properly it can also give you more privacy than electronic fiat payment methods.
But yeah I generally only spend by converting from fiat for that purpose, so never from cold storage.

There are plenty of sites where I don't think it's controversial, although for sure there are grey areas.
I'm almost always opposed to restricting access to anything on the internet, but I think different principles come into play when you're talking about kids. We can't really think like libertarians when considering what freedoms children should have. And allowing unfettered access automatically extends to kids.
They mention the example of age verification for in store adult content, and hardly anyone has an issue with that. But then they rest their argument on access to legitimate speech also being limited by age verification, and that's the part I find weak and unconvincing.

Their argument seems pretty lame to me. If at least one third of the content is sexually explicit, it's a porn site. Why would requiring age verification be a problem, if it might discourage kids from accessing it? I don't think an adult's right to KYC-free masturbation is more important.

I don't think privacy will ever become the norm. Just look at how normalized surveillance via credit card usage has become, simply because it's more convenient.
The important thing IMO is at least having the ability to have privacy if you want it, similar to being able to use cash in real life.
And buying BTC without KYC information is nice but doesn't really scale if you want to buy a lot. It will likely always be a side show.
