This is generally a moral question @nprofile…x32y about very wealthy people, not only bitcoiners of course. Accumulating wealth appears to be an end in itself, driven by the instant gratification of ephemeral material wants, more riches, more, always more. And what good they do with that? How much is enough? How many luxury cars is enough? How many houses? How many diamond colliers for your pet, without you becoming a rich egoist, egocentric, unempathic, insensible to human suffering and the basic needs of many people around you? I does not even cross their mind how many needing people could be helped if they forego the immediate satisfaction of yet another useless desire, such as a fourth luxury car or a diamond for their pet. This is sad.
For us #bitcoin is a life saver, because it allows us to conserve our savings to keep a decent but modest life style, while enabling us to give away some to help needing people. We just wish #bitcoin was worth 1million like @nprofile…mhjz predicates so that we could do the opposite of what he says: give away much more and help many more needing people.🇰🇪

If not mistaken I have heard him say something worse that he will prefer to burn them rather than giving them away so that value will accrue to the whole network. I have the opposite view: the higher the price of bitcoin goes the more we can use it to help needing people and do good. I wish #bitcoin was at 1million, so we could help a lot of people more.

He is stuck using the gogetfunding platform and an on-chain transaction rather than lightning because that is what gogetfunding does. Would be much better to post on #nostr the funding campaign and get btc over LTN but how many would send him funds on #nostr? Gogetfunding gives him some visibility.

Hi Chad, well frankly it does not really come up. The point being that I personally like monero and also have some, but here any developer who creates an app to convert local money into crypto and vice-versa concentrates on bitcoin for obvious reasons. Generally people here are not bitcoin or monero "literate" they do not really understand it until they see how it works. So here communities build circular economies based on bitcoin and nothing else and I think this is a good thing since in Africa the issue of privacy is not really perceived as in the west. Also consider that lightning is extremely private and no one spends directly bitcoin on-chain. So there is no practical need for the added privacy of Monero compared with the advantage given by network global scale, decentralization and capped supply. But I like Monero.👌 🇰🇪

Looks like the issue was using the tor browser. Which poses the question: do the relays somehow recognize tor browsers and somehow neutralize them so that one is forced not to use tor? Considering #nostr should be censorship resistant makes me think.🤔🤔🤔

Hello #nostr can pls someone help? We had issues on another #primal account with relays connections. In the settings tab the relays do not highlight green or red but remain grey. I have done "reset" relays a number of times but nothing happens. I have also lost some content/articles which I saved as a draft multiple times in the reads/articles only to discover that were not really saved and were lost. Also, when we scroll the Home/Latest feeds it does not update with new posts. What could be the problem? Will Zap who gives the solution. Thanks

Everyone we have on-boarded onto @nprofile…0vpk and any #bitcoin #lightning wallet such as @nprofile…9ral being the easiest option for beginners (though we advice to move early to self custodial @nprofile…r4yc ) is unconcerned about bitcoin price. They want to learn how to get paid in bitcoin and how to instantly convert into local currency they spend immediately. Here the need is to feed everyday the family. The western meme "numbers go up" or the store of value property is not the primary driver of bitcoin adoption. Here lightning and #tando remove the friction of fiat. Tried to provide some capital to a small business by sending an unbanked/unbankable person some #dollar or #euro in #africa? Indeed. WE increase adoption by using #bitcoin as money everyday while @nprofile…mhjz Strategy increases financialization of bitcoin. Of course Saylor does a great job for bitcoin as a store of value (and both are necessary) but without everyday use there is no adoption. I just wish @nprofile…mhjz to acknowledge that and support us who do the hard adoption/orange pilling work from the bottom up. Very true it is the daily use case and the frictionless operation of #bitcoin with different local digital cash app such as @nprofile…0vpk that makes it compelling. Think sending #bitcoin sats to a Masai Warrior in the middle of the Savana is not possible? Wrong. We did it at a Masai Mara tent camp while he was collecting cash donations with his tin-box.
