Regarding privacy, probably not as much as I should. Though any person who uses a Google service should implicitly know it's not purely private information.
If I valued privacy above all, I would do things differently. There are other things that I must value more than privacy based on my actions though. I haven't gone through an assessment to determine what I value and when. Though I suspect it's my time and community value first.

Because it's free, has infrastructure that I can control easily, it's easy for folks to pick up and understand, and it's easy to pull reports on.
It's not something "Django" competes with. It's a SaaS platform that has yet to be created would need to compete with and the immediate gap is pretty big.

I've found myself wishing I could do an assertNumQueries on a specific set of models' queries.
Like where I could say MyModel should have 5 queries and OtherModel should have 1.

I don't think there should be a decision like that. There'd be greater benefit by nudging people to where core conversations are happening. As Jeff said, conferences and foundations should exist in write-only in these other areas. Those messages could be "There's a super interesting discussion on Topic XYZ over on Platform A, here's the <link>"

With Djangonaut Space, I've noticed that applicants are way more likely to have X or LinkedIn accounts than others. If we're looking to make our contributor pool more diverse, what responsibility do existing contributors have to engage with prospective contributors where they are rather than expecting them to come to us?

For sure. I'm trying to not state things declaratively since I'm one of five.
But in this case of wanting assurances, that would lend itself to leaving them as PyPI owners to allow them to pack up and leave unilaterally (as they do now). Though if they transfer true ownership to the commons (meaning they step away), it feels like the admins should be the owners rather than the next maintainer.

So we are leaving people as owners in PyPI and on GitHub so they can bail unilaterally in the first few months. Originally I thought to remove PyPI owner rights after the onboarding period. There's a weird balance there.

I think the major unknown in that is the first step. Is there agreement on the package needing to move out. What if it's split? How do we decide that?

I really love these lists!
I think there's a fair amount of risk in hiring an ED. I'm not sure it's one of those actions in which, no matter what you do, things move forward. If an ED fails to secure more funding, we're dramatically increasing our expenses.
It'd be great to see someone on the ballot who has experience in bringing an ED to a non profit and onboard them. That would go a long way in reducing that risk.

what about in the more library centric* areas of Django? Do we have integrations with technology that should be removed? Maybe Oracle?
*The admin can be argued to be a product/tool that Django provides for free. And like all products/tools, there's a greater tolerance of bubblegum and duct tape.

I've been having thoughts on to facilitate concerns, thoughts and questions from a maintainer to users. Right now, I'm thinking we could solve this partially with a package that injects common news somewhere into your development workflow.
I'd love to hear folks thoughts on this. I suspect many people have had thought about this in the past, so any insights are appreciated.

Has anyone found a way to define a model and have any relationship field towards it always be added in the admin's raw_id_fields? I have several models that require me throwing raw_id_fields everywhere.

I just had the best chatGPT experience with the o1-preview. I asked two questions and got the information I needed.
"How do I run a postgresql query that fetches rows that have a time column with the hours of 22, 23, 0, 1, 2, 3". It gave me the idea of extracting the hour and doing an `IN` query.
The follow-up question on that thread was, "Can you write some python code that generates the list of hours between two times, inclusive bounds?" and it generated a function with tests.

I think a reasonable first step to getting there is for the community to have a hosting sandbox for people to put projects until they reach a certain scale. I know some folks have talked about going halfsies on services ( @npub1nsp…ahke ). Granted, that would be a really weird way of going about building a business.

To be fair, that's any world-class athlete. To get to that level, you have to be selfish to a degree that NARPs (non-athletic regular people) would find unappealing.
