1 night is enough but its got to be right. Some trees will give 3-4 gal sap in 10 hrs. Then nothing for a few days. Sap spoils about same rate as milk. If it gets 50 couple days its bad, especially if in sun.

I don't have one sorry. I plan to tap mid Feb to March 1 every year in NW Ohio. I just watch the weather to make sure taps are in for a good freeze/thaw from night/day. My season is 4-5 weeks. As you go north the later the tapping is.

Nope, just a warm spell. Had the biggest 2 runs I've ever had last week. Collected over 1500 gallons each run. I heard peepers also first time today. Usually sign of about 2 weeks to bud.

Going upside down in Ohio this week. When it warms up sap won't run much, the little that does will spoil. Looks like next weekend we'll get a freeze thaw cycle and another run. Spoiled sap makes terrible syrup, also if the trees bud the syrup is bad. 2 1/2 weeks to bud.

Last 100 buckets today. Should get another sap run this week. This ice will concentrate the sap a little but a big difference for me. Going from 2% to 3% sap means 35 gal sap/gal syrup instead of 45. Takes some work off of me.

Got all the Taps out, but it's been a long cold winter in Ohio. So the weather warmed up but it didn't run much because the roots were still frozen. Not until March 2026. You are on my list. NOSTR really took me by suprise this year. Unfortunately the labor of traditional wood fired maple syrup isn't something I can scale. I tapped 700 trees, but have a couple thousand I could tap. I would have to go to RO systems, Nat Gas burners, pressure filters, and hire help. (Industrial). I'll keep it simple.

I did in winter, including winter hat,until I moved out at 18. Old farmhouse in NW Ohio, no heat upstairs, bunch of blankets, on good cold nights a glass of water would get iced over on nightstand. Summer, as little as possible, no AC either. 1988 drought got to 106 here(no heat index or feels like)

I used to golf with my dad and cousin every few weeks in summer. Expensive, crowded, we were never good but had fun. I started taking my boys disc golfing when they were 10-11. 7 years later we disc golf 3-4 times a week in summer. Great course within our range. One son does regular round, and then a jogging/sprinting round for conditioning. He loves it. (24 minutes, 18 holes, 5 over)

And here is end product. All was awesome. We do have organic San Marzano tomatoes locally, but not quite the same as ones in soil of Vesuvius. Also flour in US is different, I can get a match when I buy imported Italian or French flour, but I didn't have any on hand. Need imported olive oil and peccorino also to get the last little A+ instead of an A.

Yep. Don't need to touch main stack, but having a wallet just used for spending, or using a couple fiat sites to pay a bitcoin invoice. I think Cashapp and Strike you can just have fiat there but pay lightning invoices. Allows more bitcoin to enter the circular economy.

Josh there is a leather shop in toledo i took some boots to for restitching, family owned, real small cobbler shop. If you call ahead they might be able to Stitch on the spot if youre in Toledo at some time. My son has been experimenting with leatherwork in the last couple years, he may be able to do a small job. We were just at Edison for track and I wanted to check out place, but I drove the bus so couldn't leave.

I have had a few btc and monero people switch to signal or proton after zap or invoice payment. Then give a proxy address. (friend or private business they know)
They seem comfortable with a little extra work for privacy.

I get the analogy BUT, if that is true and it cracked that soon, they didn't cut it correctly. All concrete and brick/block walls crack. Thats why they cut them, it then controls that the crack is straight. Expansion joint and cutting concrete in any state regs. If prep work were bad it would just lead to a really big gap where they should have cut it.

Yep. Our sap runs just over 2% sugar. It is a great treat over that month. Got to do french press or pourover, sap in a coffeemaker could screw something up.

We keep a pitcher of sap in fridge during season for refreshing drink. I also use a french press to make coffee with the sap.

Do I need patents? No. It is a mentality I think. I produce something I enjoy(I know I didn't invent it) I would gladly show someone else how to make it and sell it side by side. Teaching them as my neighbor taught me. He never cared I would sell at the same market. I take my syrup serious. Are there all kinds of shortcuts to take in maple syrup. (Yep, thats a different rabbit hole) mine is good because I make it to share, keep it traditional over fire, and make a little for supplies and expanding the next year. We tapped 50 walnut a few years ago. Syrup is great, like nothing Ive tasted. But it was too much work compared to maple. Bark was thick, didnt give as much sap, ratio is 85 to 1, and too keep it separate from the maple boil was extra. We got 1.25 gal. I put in small glass bottles and we pull 1 out of the freezer each christmas. Great experiment but not again for us.

I went 10 taps, 30 taps, 50 taps, 100 taps, 250 taps, 450, 600, now 750. Still boil outside on homemade evaporator. I think you got maple fever.

This is my favorite coffee in french press. 195 deg. 1 min wet grains, 4 min soak, then pess and pour. Brunch with Sarah for Easter, she will have your coffee for first time. Hope you liked her tallow soap.
