No doubt a collective shudder has passed through social media company c-suites.
While the top line settlement number of $17.1 billion is impressive, it’s likely dwarfed by the psychological damage done to children.
Most importantly, tech companies are now on notice that wantonly moral behavior can result in a steep fines and hefty redesign requirements
Let’s see where this takes us

It’s an ugly reminder of our dependence on a tech stack that has a more then questionable commitment to legitimate #FreeSpeech and #democracy

The #broligarchy is upset with @npub1q0j…x3m8 which makes his new book 📕 a must read
#SiliconValley is pro free speech provided it does NOT encompass critique of the bros special status in the world and #billionaires right to undermine democracy and further accumulation of wealth at the expense of us #NPC types.
#Facism anyone?

America is no longer the indispensable nation.
The post war order was predicated on a stable United States. Trump’s chaotic #politics has destroyed the post war order. New alliances are being formed by former allies and a decoupling of dependence on American institutions is grinding forward. It will be expensive, but the alternative is eternal instability

I wonder if we’ll look at this year’s #MetGala as some kind of tipping point?
The gushing #billionaire owned press foist fawning imagery on us normies. It all smacks of the self absorbed Capitol Elite at the center of the #HungerGames.
Is this the year when backlash coalesces? Where the 99% say enough and demand a #WealthTax?

Simon McGarr completely captures the Irish government’s obtuse determination to do nothing in the face of the illegal and immoral behavior of many American tech enterprises
While many Silicon Valley leaders are overtly supporting a democracy subverting American regime, the Irish ruling class class clings to a see no evil obtuseness as the techno spigot pours money in

1) The big question for any #Irish or #EU political party is why any of them are still on #X ?
Why would any political party opposed to #billionaire capture of #SocialMedia platforms post anywhere other than a decentralized platform?
The toxic #SiliconValley stack can be escaped. #Mastodon is an obvious exit ramp, based in #Europe. Why aren’t all elected officials there?
The #NewsMedia will follow

The GOP thinks it has a messaging problem 🤣
What it really has is a solutions problem for ordinary Americans. They have no solutions for affordable #healthcare, #housing, #StudentDebt
Trickle down has failed, the #2026MidTermElection consequences are inevitable. No amount of lipstick application will make the #BigBeautifulBill look anything different than the pig it is - a giveaway for #billionaires

1) The declaration of #ANTIFA as a domestic terrorism organization is a sad desperate attempt by the #Trump administration to create a fictional sinister enemy which threatens law abiding Americans
Of course ANTIFA is more of an ideology rather than an organization, it doesn’t have offices or a leadership council, it’s simply a designation that some groups and individuals attach to themselves

2) Irish economist David McWilliams made exactly the same point on his #podcast last week 👇

Neither #trumpism or #peronism fits easily into the traditional left/right political spectrum. Shoehorning such governments into a category is a fool’s quest.
The big question is whether #USPolitics will yield increasingly reactionary governance resulting in helicopter flights tossing those who oppose into the sea?

1) The second #Trump administration has a lot in common with the chaotic governments of Juan Peron.
Anybody with a passing interest in #geopolitics and #economics are aware of the cautionary tale of #Argentina - a booming country at the beginning of the 20th century, replete with natural resources, managed to squander its advantages as it zigzagged between the weirdness of #peronism and #facist junta’s
Why would we expect a better outcome in America?

We can speculate endlessly about what went down in the #Alaska between two morally depraved men.
Was #Trump summoned to receive instructions from his controller?
Was #Putin pushed to end is disasterous war in #Ukraine?
Was it all just kabuki, a desperate attempt for optics and attempted diversion from the #Epstein story?
Incontestable facts: both these actors have destabilized #GeoPolitics, the world is worse for their presence on the international stage

1) A view of the Trauttmansdorff Gardens in Merano which I visited during my recent #SouthTyrol trip
The gardens are associated with the Empress” Sissi” who stayed at the property’s castle on two seperate occasions and made Merano a fashionable destination for the grandees of the Austro Hungarian empire

Of course #NOAA is one of the government services that #project2025 wants to scrap.
Why #Trump and the #heritagefoundation wants to keep us ignorant of the world we live in is mysterious to me. Could be that the #Petrogarchs don’t like #climatechange talk
