My depressingly materialist explanation for the pacifism of NGO Christianity is that if it had promoted anything else prior to converting the emperor it would have been stamped out.
In other words Christianity is a memeplex evolved to survive under a strong central state... which means it constantly cucks to same if said state is not itself Christian.
