GM #nostr,
Today we want to announce a shift in our long term developement strategy. In the coming weeks, we will be sunsetting "Zap" support and will be focusing on the usability of #monero. Since #workstr is a #fitness app designed for #privacy first, it is only natural that #monero fits in our fundamentals. We want to focus on the essentials and adding other payments mode would only dilute our time and ressources.
We already have a #monero node running and a RPC for future features in developement. We are already contributing to the network by mining with the extra ressources that our server have left over. This is not much, but we do our part.
We are keeping and reinforcing our presence on #nostr since we leverage several NIP and relays and our main infrastructure is settled on #nostr. We believe that #nostr and #monero is in a begining of a journey and we want to help develop and build on this.

Workstr Web v1.3 is live. History stopped being a list and became a record.
- A monthly calendar at the top of History. Every day you trained is filled
in, graded by how much work you got through, with a count on the days you
trained twice. Move between months, tap a day to see just that day.
- Three cards underneath: workouts this month, weeks trained in a row, days
since your last session.
- History is grouped by day now — Today, Yesterday, then dated headings —
instead of one undifferentiated stream.
- Repeat workout. Any finished session can start the next one, rebuilt from
what that session actually recorded, so it still works after the original
program was edited or deleted. Supersets and EMOM structure come along, and
last time's finishing weight is offered as the starting value.
- Streaks count the days you actually trained. They were derived in UTC and
compared against your local midnights, so a late-evening session could land
on the wrong day and break an intact streak.

Workstr Web v1.2 is live. This one sharpens the training modes v1.1
introduced.
- Mixed sessions read as one workout — every card names its section, EMOM
comes up as the next step instead of an alternative to finishing, and the
progress bar spans both halves rather than hitting 100% with a whole EMOM
block still ahead.
- Mixed program details split into Strength and EMOM, in the order you train
them, each with its own exercise count and time. Timed work is described in
rounds and intervals, not sets and reps it never had.
- Program duration agrees everywhere. A mixed program no longer advertises one
length on the card and another on the summary.
- Countdown beeps hold for the whole session. Cues now follow the work phase
as well as the recovery, and a device that interrupts audio mid-workout no
longer kills every cue after round one. Settings shows the audio state.

Workstr Web v1.1 is live.
New training modes in the live runner:
- Supersets — pair consecutive exercises into grouped rounds. Every movement
runs before the round rest, and history labels the block.
- EMOM — rounds of timed intervals, with more than one movement allowed inside
the same interval. Reconciled against wall-clock time, so a locked screen
does not desync the session.
- Mixed programs — build a strength section and EMOM sections into one
program. They run in order on one continuous clock, and finish as a single
workout.
Still no account, no server, no key touching the app. Local, offline, yours to
export.

We are introducing EMOM!!!
EMOM is “Every Minute On the Minute”.
You start a timer, and at the beginning of every minute you do the programmed work.
If the work takes 25 seconds, you rest the remaining 35 seconds. Then the next minute starts.
It’s simple, brutal and honest.
It works well on Workstr because the app keeps the structure clear:
- circuits
- rounds
- exercises
- timer
- reps logged after each interval
So instead of guessing where you are in the workout, Workstr keeps the proof.

Workstr is moving away from fundraising platforms and doubling down on #nostr.
Instead of relying on a platform like Geyser to explain support, collect payments, or prove progress, Workstr is making funding part of the protocol layer itself.
That means Nostr zaps are the primary support model.
Every zap is a Lightning payment with a public Nostr receipt. The Support page uses those receipts to power a live zap meter, showing what came in, how it compares to Workstr’s monthly costs, and what supporters are funding.
No black box. No separate campaign dashboard. No trust-us accounting.
Just:
Zap → public receipt → live meter → open-source work.
Every sat goes back into Workstr: development, hosting, Nostr infrastructure, mobile polish, and keeping training data user-owned.
Workstr is not just building on Nostr.

Workstr Web update: the local-first tracker is now working
The whole tracker, working offline, with no account: exercise library, program builder, live session logger, plan, progress statistics, recovery body map, quick workout, PWA install, and JSON export/import.
That core goal is now working in the web app.
Workstr Web is designed so the app opens straight into training. Your data lives locally first in the browser, not behind a hosted account. Sign-in is optional, and export/import is part of the product so your training data is never hostage.
Recent progress includes:
- Offline-capable PWA foundation
- Local exercise library
- Program builder
- Live workout/session logger
- Training plan and progress views
- Recovery body map
- Quick workout flow
- JSON export/import
- Optional Nostr identity/sign-in path
- Public Nostr catalog discovery for exercises and programs
- Imported catalog content cached locally so workouts remain usable offline
This is a major step toward the Workstr Web vision: a fitness app that feels simple enough for daily training, but is built around user ownership, portability, and Nostr-native publishing/discovery instead of a closed cloud account.

#Workstr programs are plain NIP-101e workout templates — kind:33402, addressable via d = workstr:program:<slug>.
The prescription is one exercise tag per set, referencing a kind:33401 exercise by coordinate:
["exercise", "33401:<pubkey>:<d>", "<relay>", weight, reps, rpe, set_type] (timed work swaps that for duration + set_type).
Plus t tags for discovery and an imeta muscle map. Workstr-only fields — rest, notes, order — sit in a namespaced workstr_meta tag everyone else ignores, so the event stays readable to any NIP-101e client while my re-import stays lossless.
Publishing a program publishes its exercises first. No dangling references.
It is good to note that importing a Program will automatically import the exercises in it.

Shout out to @nprofile…8wmy for this wonderful mention in his podcast. We encourage all to listen to them, they are very high quality material.
To answer a couple questions, we are a #nostr only #fitness app. We are not planning to advertise on any other platforms. #nostr is one of the few protocol with an organic community and this is why we intent to add more Nostr native features in our project.
Also, we cannot mention #nostr without #bitcoin. We intend to integrate zaps in the future in a meaningful ways to create a community driven #workout app. There are no plans for other tokens of any shapes or form.
The intention is to keep the app fully free without paywalls. This is why we started a Geyser account in order to help us absorb these initial cost and hopefully ongoing cost.

Workstr uses Nostr for exercise discovery, not just social posting.
Exercises are published as NIP-101e exercise templates using kind 33401. Each exercise has a stable addressable d tag like:
workstr:exercise:barbell-squat
That means an exercise can live on relays as structured data: title, equipment, format, difficulty, image metadata, tags, and instructions.
In Workstr’s Discover tab, the app simply queries your relays for kind:33401 exercise templates, parses the NIP-101e structure, and lets you import exercises into your local library.
So discovery is not a centralized API or Workstr-only database. It’s just Nostr: publish structured exercise events to relays, fetch them from relays, and import what you want locally.
Workstr adds a few extra namespaced tags for richer muscle mapping and lossless re-import, but the base structure is standard NIP-101e.

Thank you for the request. We could look into reading QR code, however given that it is a web app, there are limitations. Secondly since all programs and exercises are NIP101e on #nostr relays, it would be a challenge to associate them with a QR code specific to Planet Fitness.
If you could send us a DM with more info on the specific machines or even program you are using, we could easily make it available on the relays for you.
