signal bygger på att man når signals servrar (dvs ”internet”), det är mer en tjänst än en mjukvara. matrix är ett protokoll och kan fungera i helt avklippta miljöer vilket förmodligen är varför tex bundeswehr använder det. detsamma gäller ju activitypub tex.

signal är mer som whatsapp, matrix är mer som IRC/slack. beror på om man vill ha smidigt/centraliserat eller flexibelt/federerat, de har ganska olika syften

I completely agree, but tangentially I think it's pretty sad that even Mastodon itself still does not show replies from other instances, it limits the potential a lot and I don't think you should have to run a custom python script as a cron job to "fix" it https://github.com/mastodon/mastodon/discussions/22608#discussioncomment-4775167

fediverse bridges are awesome. any plans for one targeting posts on public facebook pages/profiles? i looked into trying to subscribe to them as rss through self-hosted middleware a while back but it was a mess, there's even some paid saas services for it. i think it requires api access and/or an actual FB account, but even as a closed self-hosted thing i think it would be really valuable

@npub1tk7…0m5c the practice of disabling free accounts after six months and demanding payment to re-enable them is scummy as hell. I just want to update my 2FA token, but because I can't log in without paying, I can now never update it, so I'll either have to stop my migration or burn my account with you forever. Guess I'll never use your service in my life then, thanks. #tutanota
