💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 After a month of Doom, we thought it was funny to do a month of Loom. So that's what we did!
Loom (1990, Lucasfilm Games) is an atypical game, not only because of its unique fantasy setting, but also because it features a magical music-based user interface that doesn't show any verbs at all.
It's a beautiful little game that holds a special place in many of its players' hearts, and we want to hear all about it!

💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 When did turn-based tile-based RPGs from the 1980s turn into the real-time 3D games we know today? Ultima Underworld, that's when!
We took 3 months to look at this game instead of our normal 1 month, mainly to give ourselves a chance to catch up with our schedule, but also because it's not easy to fully play a big game like this in a single month.

Some say it's merely "aquatic Wing Commander", but when you dive into it (pun intended) there's quite a unique experience to be had at the bottom of the sea!

💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 We took a look at MDK, developed by Shiny Entertainment and released in 1997.
This game is quite the change for the team who put this together, as previously they were known for bright cartoony platformers such as Cool Spot, Aladdin and Earthworm Jim.
But despite their unfamiliarity with developing 3D shooters, MDK was very well received at the time.

💾 NEW PODCAST!💾 Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis might have been LucasArts' most ambitious adventure game to date when it was released in June of 1992.
It's got two playable characters, three possible paths, randomised and optional puzzles, a lush iMuse-powered soundtrack and last but not least full "talkie" voice acting, oh my!

💾 NEW PODCAST! 💾 We had a look at Empire, originally developed by Walter Bright in the 1970s for the PDP-10, and later released for various systems, including MS-DOS with 1987's Empire: Wargame of the Century, and 1993's Empire: Deluxe.
This is a very early example of a turn-based strategy wargame, and one that would have a big influence on the genre. Sid Meier among others has mentioned Empire is a big inspiration for Civilization.
