I carry the marks of elsewhere: an accent tracing journeys across oceans, skin holding the warmth of distant suns, a turban crowning my identity. Yet you've woven me into the fabric of belonging. You—so many of you—opened spaces where I could simply be, where difference dissolved into kinship. For this, my gratitude runs deeper than words can reach.

I received a letter from the Office of the Governor General of Canada, Hon. Mary Simon, informing me that I have been selected for the Meritorious Service Decoration (Civil Division). The award recognizes my contributions toward creating a positive impact in the country. The formal presentation of the award will take place in 2025. I am very grateful 🙏🏽🧡
