Well - even young boomers like me will have to downsize and will have a LOT of books, albums, CDs, and other items to get rid of.
I helped clean out the 1BR home for my mom - took two trailers full of trash to the dump, the family got all the nice things, and other stuff went to the nearby resale store or to Goodwill. I could have had a nice Queen sized wrought iron bed frame but not sure how I could have gotten it home.

Be glad you don't live near the mountains where the distance to empty & shown MPG goes up and down based on the direction you drive the vehicle.
I can drive 200 miles round trip from Denver to Vail CO and see the distance to empty change up and down over 100 miles - with the maximum when I get home (after 50 miles of driving mostly downhill).

Covered by a tarp - whatever that means to prevent evaporation. Obviously not very effective if the neighbor knew to complain.
I would have been worried that water (rainfall) would have mixed in to ruin the gas as well. It would have required the tarp to be raised above the fuel level to allow it to drain around the pool. That would have allowed fumes to form - dangerous.

I'm old enough - there were multiple handles for the different grades back then. Just don't remember the colors for sure. I did an image search to find this though

Plus they picked the image with the green handled gas pump for the show. Most (not all) gas stations in the US use a green handle for diesel fuel. The premium comes out of a (usually) black handled pump.
Altitude also affects the octane needed - a couple less at gas stations in Denver and other high locations.

Yeah - my first full time job in 1978 was about $15K / year. The idea I could have over $1M in assets was crazy.
My oldest son got over $100K with his first full time job and I have over $1M in assets ignoring my home.

The cooling system on the ISS takes out 70KW with two cooling loops. It does require the ISS to be positioned properly - keeping the loops in the shade of the solar panels.
It would be probably better to have "smaller" data centers anyway for better redundancy etc.

A Starlink satellite weighs a lot less than a rod from god. The primary cost is the $$ / pound to get that rod into orbit.
Just search for

or similar to see the numbers I am quoting from.
Like I said, maybe SpaceX could figure out to design one that could survive reentry intact so they could weigh less - but I haven't seen that yet.

It is okay now. Both Vail and Beaver Creek had big areas closed until maybe 4 weeks ago. Much later than normal. Last week at Vail had the road below Orient Express with warning signs but much better than that video.
I'm planning on another trip to Breckenridge this week- they finally got the upper mountain open a few weeks ago as well.
Not sure about next week. HOT in Denver with four days forecast over 80F each day. It was 5F with 1" of snow at DEN yesterday.

Local TV news had some guy on in CO who tracked his mileage based on what kind of gas he bought (regular, mid grade, or premium). Premium got the best mileage, mid grade in the middle, and regular the least. About a dime more right now for mid grade - might be worth it for the better mileage.

Yeah - I really prefer earphones with wires or some positive attachment to the ear. I have something similar from Soundcore (Anker) and they fall out in very inconvenient times & locations. Like sitting in the airplane during boarding and one falls out and lands on the floor where I can't see it. The person behind me found it a few minutes later & handed it back to me. I was worried I would have to look after landing when the floor was clear.

Yeah - even smaller funds like Fundrise have limits on withdrawals. IIRC, Fundrise lets you withdraw every 90 days with a nominal 5% limit.
I believe that is customary because the assets invested by the fund are not quickly or easily liquidated unless you want to lose a lot of $$.
Been making pretty good $$ (on paper) with them but it is something to remember when you have issues.

Very little snow all winter - yes. About 60% of normal now, up from 50% or so through January.
Snow is plenty deep on the open areas. At Beaver Creek, they opened Grouse Mountain and McCoy Park a couple of weeks ago.
The last three weeks have been good for fresh snow. A series of storms every 3-4 days with 4" to 12" (heavier in some spots). On Grouse Mountain I had relatively small moguls with fresh snow on top. A bit crunchy underneath but still okay for an old guy like me.

Yeah - just over the hill in the Elkhorn picture is a road with a few ski-in, ski-out homes. No joy for them this year though one home had a snowboard & pair of skis hanging on a rack. Easily seen from the chairlift. Odd.
This year I got to the lift (to take the picture) by skiing down a road - enters from the left, makes a turn on the right, and then down to where I was at. That was okay after a short (20 step) patch of dirt.

Second is looking at the golf course next to a ski run. Usually covered with snow.

That is a start but zoning is only part of the problem.
Congress should nuke the USG regulations for wetlands and other environmental issues if they want to "fix" housing. Plus withhold USG $$ to states and cities that wish to maintain them.

When I left Texas they were still selling (not building) new homes for under $100 a square foot (like $300K for a 3000 sqft home south of Dallas TX).
I'm reading a book about how zoning and environmental regulations have made home building unaffordable. Like 10-20 years just to get approval for a new housing development. Or putting a guy in jail for leveling his lot because he didn't have proper wetlands permits.

This is a bit interesting - Pratt & Whitney had a couple Boeing 747 aircraft built with a mount for a fifth engine for flight testing.
It reminds me of a WWII B-17 bomber that had a motor mounted in the nose for flight tests. Powerful enough to turn off the other four engines in flight. I was told it was also powerful enough that it almost tore the nose off by the end of testing.

I am not sure I could find my birth certificate (I have ideas where it is...). But I know where I have my perfectly good US passport, RealID driver's license, and a Global Entry card. Any should work.

Yeah - that reminds me of an audio tape I checked out of the library about sales. I forget the author but the gist of his message was to do something like this
- put everyone on commission
- give the top 20% (or so) the best of everything
- give the middle 50% (or so) reasonable resources
- the bottom 30% will leave when they don't make enough to live on.
repeat.
That works for technical jobs as well - okay maybe not the commission part but the idea is the same.
