I know what you mean. I got a Mac Mini mainly for GarageBand and Logic; used to use an iPad lol.
I still can’t believe you can’t disable a display or volume control per application on Mac. Mouse side buttons also don’t work natively.
I found ways to fix most of those things. But coming from Windows was brutal at first but I’ll never go back to Windows.
I love my Steam Deck and enjoy my Mac. The integration between iOS and Mac is also nice

That’s why I find the Wine 11.3 DXMT so fascinating. It’s showing us without per app optimization what out of the box performance looks like with the translation layer.
The potential is there but at the same time it’s Apple. Rather than improve GPTK 3.0 to be more user friendly, their goal is to mainly pivot gaming to their App Store. If it weren’t for the amazing folks at Heroic Games Launcher, most people wouldn’t even be able use it.

From at least my experience the M4 (base model) is significantly more powerful than the Steam Deck.
On Wine 11.3 DXMT I can run most games 1440p high settings (except low shadows). While I can’t do the same on the Steam Deck, even low-mid settings on the Steam Deck it will have the fans cranking hard.
While the Mac Mini is quieter.
I wonder what an Apple silicon Steam Deck like device would be. We know the iPad can run the M-series.

@nprofile…q443 @nprofile…5dxw idk if it’s just me but my 1080p Blu-Ray looks nicer than the digital version I have of the same movies on YouTube/Apple.
Mainly dark scenes and areas of detailed motion. Like the water waves in Finding Dory. And like the night shots in the Superbad movie.
