#Smartmeter sind doof.
Um den aktuellen Verbrauch zu sehen (was beim dummen Stromzähler einfach durch Zeitmessung pro Umdrehung mit einer Stoppuhr geht) musste ich einen PIN draufleuchten. Extrem frustrierend, ständig wird das Leuchten nicht oder als zwei Tastendrücke akzeptiert. Praktisch unmöglich.
Bis ich die LED-Taschenlampe, die PWM macht (alle meine LED-Lampen machen leider PWM, auch Handy- und Fahrradlampen) durch eine Glühlampe aus dem Kasten mit den Autobirnen ersetzt habe. So ein 12V-Scheinwerfer mit Labornetzteil auf 6V betrieben erzeugt genau die richtige Menge an Infrarot, und wird auch nicht allzu heiß.
Und kein PWM (und selbst wenn, kommt das nicht durch den Glühfaden durch). Das Teil reagiert also anständig.
Was machen Leute, die kein Auto haben? Und warum muss das über ein so komisches Protokoll gehen, wo der Zähler nach dem IR-Sensor ja nicht einmal eventuelles PWM wegglättet?
Mir scheint, als könnte man den geschätzt 100 Euro-Zähler mit einem 10 Cent-Teil erheblich benutzerfreundlicher machen...

To be fair, school shootings are usually ultimately caused by psychological trauma caused by that very school. Just the victims are rarely ever the ones at fault. Even the school itself usually was forced to cause the bad situations due to underfunding, understaffing and underqualification.
As such, yeah, the right place for once.

Pretty sure they could be made out of metal, but then would be heavier and less efficient.
This is something we still need to figure out - which technology works best in the long term, especially when considering foreign dependencies.
In theory we could build wind power plants and solar ones even from mostly steel and aluminium. In case of solar that requires entirely different technology - not solar panels but solar collectors that heat water using sun energy, and then processing like with every other heat based power plant - in case of wind it is basically the same, just heavier.
But even if we don't, the mere fact that we could makes us less dependent. Although it would be even better if a small number of these are actually built so in an emergency (like China stopping even supporting existing plants) we have a proven plan B.

I got to Green Card status, but a few years later, it became clear that my family and me could not be safe in the US anymore, so we left again (by which one almost automatically loses permanent resident status).
And I am really happy I didn't file for naturalization. Because those MAGA people don't care. If your name sounds foreign, you are in danger, US passport or not. Cory, I applaud your work - I couldn't do the same though, not with a family with young children.

I am pretty sure Germans _are_ still being held accountable.
My history classes were over 2/3 about the Third Reich, about how Germans are the worst people ever because they did not get rid of Austrian Painter guy. All this to ensure we will never do it again.
Isn't that collective punishment enough?
(Or has this kind of history teaching stopped - maybe the reason for the AfD uprising now?)

Maybe I do not get it, but why?
"People" is the status quo. Other "people" control what I can do with e.g. my phone.
But it should be me, the user.
"The people" as a whole may however exert democratic control over which things should be possible to some extent.

Purity is not the issue, see https://grapheneos.org/faq.
They are inherently pro DRM (that is what "immutable root of trust" means), and GPLv3 is anti DRM (see section 3).

Not bad, although I find it even more impressive that you are using a 3D FPS engine for a 2D platformer.
Making the level up notifications instantly pop up and modal may be something to reconsider. I'd prefer them taking place either in the background (gameplay continues as normal), or at a later "safe time" (e.g. at a checkpoint, or maybe once no monster is on screen and the player is on ground). Not sure if this falls under "UI" for you.
