The saga continues! Apparently the invoice was finally found and the package has officially arrived in Germany and is scheduled for delivery tomorrow... right when I'm on my way to PyCon Italia 😬
I've now requested to deliver it to a package shop nearby, and I sincerely hope that will work out so my partner can fetch it from there. Here's hope that I'll finally have that bloody thing in my hands come Saturday evening...

Reply from Steam support... Larger fuckup of GLS, not just my package affected. I should not have to worry about any fees and they also offered me a game to say sorry (asked for Subnautica 2 🤞).
I suggested to offer an additional premium delivery option in the future using DHL or UPS. Don't think they'll go with it, but hey, I tried.
Anyhow, my current guess is that the controller won't arrive before I have to leave for PyCon Italia, but maybe I'm lucky and it still arrives before June 4th 😬

Meanwhile I'm constantly watching the financial support of my work on OctoPrint decline from month to month, and thus my income (this is my full time job), and I can tell you that is extremely frustrating *especially* at a time you are working your butt off to keep things open and accessible for everyone in the face of more and more vendor lock-in in the 3d printing space.

I can tell you that once I have the stable 2.0.0 release out, I'll need a vacation for good 😅
The final weeks have been intense, I'm now close to being able to release the first RC, then the incredibly stressful RC phase will begin, somewhere in that I'll probably also have to give a talk at PyCon Italia that I still have to prepare, and then, at some point, I can finally declare things as done and breathe again I hope 😬

We play these together as interactive movies basically. As my partner is way better with QTEs and also doesn't have to fight with motion sickness, he has the controller, but we make ask the decisions together. We usually agree but still discuss things through. I remember the one or other decision in "The Quarry" and "House of Ashes" that took over 10min, trying to figure out so possible consequences 😅

Finished my partner's and mine play through of "The Casting of Frank Stone". Not my favourite narrative game from Supermassive Games (that's "The Quarry" closely followed by "House of Ashes"), but not as bad as its reviews say. I just wish there were more differences in the endings.
Next up is "The Devil in Me" (also not the best reviews) and then we are both looking forward to "Directive 8020" as this year's summer vacation game!

The stars aligned today and the bloody vertigo that's been going strong the past weeks finally was manageable enough that I dared to go #bouldering!
Not the best performance, but not bad either, and I'm just glad I finally made it back on the wall again and also got a chance to catch up with my buddies!

@nprofile…58gl gotcha. Well, using my phone as a hotspot works fine, so not a problem at least. Just weird considering that I have a ton of ESPs without issues around here, but who knows what they did insight of this thing 😅
Not sure if you saw, but flashed a Crosspoint fork on it to make KOsync across my devices properly. Also came with a weather app 😆

So, two issues for now...
The KOsync seems to only one work in one direction for me, need to figure out what's going wrong there. Fetching my progress from the server to the X4 works great, but syncing it up and then moving to my Boox doesn't show me the right point.
The other problem is really bad WiFi. With my phone acting as a Hotspot everything is great, but I have to sit next to my normal AP to allow the X4 to connect without timing out. Weird, can't say other ESPs here have issues.

@nprofile…9fqk huh, interesting, I also dreamed a ton of shit (thankfully no zombies though, but I can offer vampires a week or so ago). My smart watch even complained about the amount and length of my REM phases.

My Xteink X4 finally arrived! And I already flashed it with Crosspoint Reader and connected it to both my OPDS library (Calibre Web Automated running in Docker on my NAS) as well as my KOsync Server (KO Insight, also hosted on my NAS).
The case I printed last week also works great! So now I can always have an e-reader with me and have one less reason to grab my phone and end up doom scrolling! 👍
PS: I blame @nprofile…58gl for this acquisition but am actually thankful for the nerd snipe ^^

Neurologist appointment booked for yet another try to get to the bottom of my chronic vertigo. Have to wait until July, but after 25 years with this issue that doesn't really matter 😬
Same neurologist that I've accompanied my mom to twice now, so I was able to get an idea about them (and ask them about their vertigo/migraine experience) & hopefully this will not be a bad idea.
Still... I'm worried I'll once again not get a diagnosis. Have gotten my hopes high to then get crushed too often 😔

Ich hab seit Tagen ein komisches Problem mit dem Shop der Deutschen Post und frage mich, ob das auch andere haben.
Loginversuch mit Firefox 148.0 unter Fedora wird nur noch mit "Aufruf fehlgeschlagen" quittiert. Login mit den selben Credentials in Ungoogled Chromium klappt (145.0), ebenso auf dem Android-Handy (FF 148.0).
Schon probiert: Cookies löschen, Cache löschen, Localstorage löschen, privates Tab, komplett frisches Profil, AI Block aus, uBlock Origin aus.
Bin etwas ratlos.

Dear #Cairn diary,
Today I climbed up from an abandoned village, climbed on top of a statue, and then licked a funny looking frog in a cave, turning everything extremely groovy for a few. Then I met some goats.
So far I've only broken my self imposed rule to go without pitons once when I was very close to freezing to death with a hot tea in my backpack.
Also, I decided to allow myself to use them for abseiling (climbing down ain't fun).
Otherwise I'm fully free climbing.

Over a month of intermittent tooth, jaw and gum pain, 5 dentist appointments (the 6th now scheduled for tomorrow) and yet no solution - the only thing we definitely know is that it's thanks to my bruxism and all teeth are currently alive.
Two weeks now of yet another bad vertigo episode thanks to the weather playing rollercoaster.
Constant worry about a close family member for medical reasons.
And now also a cold on top.
I'm so fucking exhausted from all of this 😮‍💨

Getting closer and closer to Kami's summit.
Already saw the credits roll once (went with getting the achievement for turning back at the point of no return), now pushing for the final part.
The difficulty is no joke, fighting through a specific spot currently where I'm not on a rope for story reasons and now have died 8 times.
Still, an amazing game that really helps me get my head free. Probably going to go another run as I missed some things further down.

I've been working on getting "The Peril" route in #Cairn done for four days now. An extremely long route up a very vertical wall, full of cruxes, fighting storm and rain with limited Pitons and without a chance to rest until very late into the climb.
So. Many. Falls.
But tonight, a week and a day after the game was released, I made it to the end of that route and am now on the next part of my journey to the summit.
What an amazing game. Game of the Year for me already!

@nprofile…cy80 sadly the only thing I can offer there is some experience with a Power-Z KM001 pass through kinda device that could also show what kind of connection was going on, but that of course doesn't tell you what is supposed to go max... I have to look where I put that and check what it actually could do in that regard 🤔

@nprofile…xjqn @nprofile…q7dx I run some ecowitt outdoor sensor and that's working well (I use the integration but will check the mqtt bridge - thanks for the hint!). So long haven't splurged on the full weather station, but have been tempted a few times.
Last September I created a gill shield for a cheap Aqara indoor environmental sensor (temperature, humidity, pressure via zigbee), and to my utmost surprise that is still running just fine too.

6h+ in I've managed to not die yet! But I almost ran out of food and in order to avoid that ended up having to climb a route during a rainy night, not being able to see the grip options at all. Also I've already almost emptied the first roll of finger tape. And I got attacked by an ibex.

I played the demo back in March and got instantly hooked on this climbing game. So this was an instant buy on release! 😄

I was especially proud about topping the route pictured above and below, as I lost my footing when moving over to the big voluminous grip, but was able to recover from that and have enough strength left and my fear of heights under control that I was able to top out.

@nprofile…eysl Kleidung und Sattelbezug wurde schon genannt, aber allgemein trinken trinken trinken. Tee treibt gut, und rausspülen ist so dass effektivste was ich kenne zum verhindern (und teilweise noch zum kurieren).
Und impfen: Strovac. Leider muss man das hier selbst zahlen.

Considering that I only set it up in mid October, I've already gotten some good use out of my self hosted #AudioBookshelf instance!
Threw all my Audible audio books in there (after backing them up) and have been relistening to some series since.
Audio books (and podcasts) help me keep my brain busy when I'm trying to fall asleep at night, I usually don't notice the 30min timer running out whereas without listening I take way way longer to find rest.

There's a first time for everything. Just had to deny a registration request on the official OctoPrint plugin repository as the plugin the author tried to register turned out to be pretty much completely vibe coded. And in the end, even their communication seemed to be the output of an LLM.
Unbelievably bad quality: tons of bugs, dead code, (future) vulnerabilities, ... I honestly haven't yet seen this amount of shittiness from a human developer, no matter how clueless.
I hate this future.

@nprofile…z8r4 I've actually been thinking about giving a talk about security 101 for maintainers, with disclosure best practices, CVSS scoring metrics and such, to better prepare people for getting bombarded with CVEs with blown up scores.
I just am not sure whether I'm actually qualified.

@nprofile…z8r4 Plenty of people scoring CVSS have never actually read the scoring guide nor the examples.
And plenty of people score everything with the highest score they can to pad their CV with high acored CVEs.
Sadly, these groups of people also appear to have a rather large overlap and plenty of maintainers then get completely steamrolled with reports like that as they have no clue at all about the whole process and get overwhelmed.
What you describe there should be scored AV:L indeed.

Four years ago I had a knee surgery (meniscus rip) and since then a roughly 2€ sized skin area close to one of the cuts has been numb. I still had feeling inside, noticed pressure and such, but the skin itself was just numb and things felt extremely weird.
Now, a week or so ago that area started hurting, was sensitive AF. And guess what? That apparently was due to the nerve having recovered and my brain sorting things out! 🥳
The area is no longer numb now and things feel almost normal! 🎉

My humble contribution to #FreeCADFriday: A wall mount for a Ubiqiti USW-Lite-16-PoE network switch. The one it came with I couldn't easily mount to my networking HSW, this one I can. Sits satisfyingly snug in there.
Haven't yet disconnected the one it's replacing and wired that one up, that'll be for another day. For now I'm happy everything worked out on the first try with this mount.
I'm running out of ports and especially PoE ones and/or power sockets for injectors. This will help.

Almost forgot to share today's #bouldering stats. Better grip than Wednesday but definitely still not back at my normal level. Would have been a big surprise though in any case given I had to take a break of pretty much two months (with one attempt in between).

FINALLY back on the wall today, after a way too long break thanks to first some really bad episodes of my chronic vertigo and then COVID. Took a while to get back on my feet enough for this.
It definitely went better than I expected, but I'm also glad I waited until my day off because I'm feeling quite exhausted now.

Day 26 of #cosytober2025 : "Game"
I was really looking forward to this prompt as early last week I had the idea to try my hand at a pixelart visual of one of my favourite cosy games, #Dorfromantik. Just received an email from YouTube that they'll soon enable autodubbing on the OctoPrint channel for new and soon also old videos. Hell no, every time I run into this AI shit when watching YouTube I just want to scream, it's THAT bad.
Thankfully, there's a way to opt-out, and I just did that. And if you upload stuff to YouTube, for the love of all that is holy, PLEASE disable that too!
Uncheck Channel Settings > Upload defaults > Advanced Settings > Automatic dubbing

Day 19 of #cosytober2025 : "Love"
The first thing that came to my mind was of course a heart, but I wanted to go with something less generic. Then I thought about animals who mate for life and remembered what I read about swans - so it ended up being a heart after all ^^ I really enjoyed drawing this one!

Day 18 of #cosytober2025: "Tree"
This was inspired by an actual tree standing on the top of the Schauinsland down in the Southern Black Forest. I think it's an old oak and it has this windswept shape that especially during winter with snow around just looks amazing against a blue sky. I tried my best to capture that in 64x64px 😅

Various rapid tests are claiming that I'm negative again, Pluslife still saw something there yesterday but only two chambers after 33min.
Now I just have to win my ongoing fight against the Sinusitis that is trying to slide into my DMs. Regardless I'm quite optimistic so far that come Monday I'll finally be able to work again.
But: Fucking COVID. Still haven't gotten all my energy back and am struggling with dizziness and some brain fog, same as last time. Takes time.
