I wonder how often diagnosing is the bottleneck.
My few experiences with family members in the ER were super annoying because of the lack of available beds in the hospital and the nurses' miscommunication with doctors.
I hope folks doing AI for healthcare are focused on addressing the things that have the most impact, not the coolest ML problems 👀
Also, what happened to Hinton's prediction about radiologists? 🙈

One more reminder to fill out the survey @npub1y2r…kvzk is running to understand what mods, admins, and community organizers of indie social media need:

Mastodon settings allow you to set automatic post deletion and disable indexing by search engines. Check your settings and make sure they align with your preferences.

Informal poll to check how old is the Fedi:
What was your first personal computer’s CPU?

that's also totally possible, that we're too old and not plugged in to the channels junior folks are using 😅

those old-school mailing lists were a bit less scary than broadcasting on social media, where you have to contend with senior scholars, random internet trolls, and fear of being canceled for saying the wrong thing.
If I were to address this, I'd create more ephemeral, highly curated online/offline groups with a solid face-to-face component. Reducing context collapse.
@npub1vd6…cphg, @npub1v5s…h9wu, and I have done some events like this but it takes a lot of energy to keep them going.

I have also noticed a lot less interest in microblogging compared to my generation. This is probably because these platforms were more niche back in the day. They felt like a private group chat among friends. I have this theory that public social media "died" about 4 years ago and became an industrial-strength experience, mainly for those people interested in influencer-like behavior. If it wasn't for Mastodon, I probably would have checked out a while ago.

Please help our student @npub1x7w…v43z on his Fedi research project 👋
He's recruiting Mastodon users to answer a survey about people's experience with their feeds.
It requires authentication of a Mastodon account during the study and about 10 minutes of close attention.
Ryan will use the data with machine learning models.

oh interesting. I don't think I have ever had an ISP give me an IP in that range (100.64.0.0/10).

dumb question but aren’t all IPs given by ISPs public? I thought they just block ports but the addresses itself is public
