I have also noticed a lot less interest in microblogging compared to my generation. This is probably because these platforms were more niche back in the day. They felt like a private group chat among friends. I have this theory that public social media "died" about 4 years ago and became an industrial-strength experience, mainly for those people interested in influencer-like behavior. If it wasn't for Mastodon, I probably would have checked out a while ago.
