Off for a ten-mile round trip yesterday with friends, exploring the area around West Linton, Peeblesshire.
Beautiful and surrounded with historic remains from clusters of neolithic cairns to Roman roads and charming architecture. Wonderful.

The sadly much-ruined #broch at Bow Castle, near Stow. One of three brochs currently identified in the Borders - the most southerly of their type. A Romano-British brooch in the form of a cockerel was discovered here. #scottishborders #scottishhistory #stowofwedale

One from a few years ago - the spectacularly-sited Cairn Holy tombs, overlooking Wigtown Bay in Galloway, s.w. Scotland. Linked with a mythical King Galdus, the two sites were used repeatedly as burial places over the millennia. Part of a jadeite axe made in the Alps was discovered here. #StandingStoneSunday
