When I was young I didn't understand why almost every funny comedian and actor I admired seem to have a dark side to them.
Now I'm in my 40s and I understand.
Sometimes I think comedians have it harder than most. In order to be funny, one usually has to be smart enough to see both how things ought to be as well as how reality is so far from that idea. Doing that for a living - I can see it being inherently depressing.
