Part of what I had responded was that the media isn't free if it's directed by the US president via one of his buddies (Ellison). And investigative journalism must be free to stay true to its investigations' outcomes, even if the resulting reporting is uncomfortable to those in leadership because a crucial role of investigative journalism is to hold leadership to account.
If investigative journalism isn't free, it's propaganda. Time to move on.
