Yes, my local mountains are quite low in elevation-- around 4,500' elevation (that *feet*, not meters!). So, the best snowshoeing is generally in January-March. December can still have lots of exposed rocks and ice. April has "mashed potato snow"-- still deep enough, but rocks getting exposed and sometimes not great traction. Either way, it is a fun challenge in each month (did I mention freezing rain? 😂 ). I just take a range of traction devices to match the terrain.
