And of course you'll get journalists painting this as "both sides", and "two groups of protesters".
But one group had banners said "this is not China, this is not India, this is NZ". Same people who have stormed libraries to stop kids' events and pride parades where they were never invited.
The other had banners saying "you're welcome here", and "uniting our communities".
These are not at all the same thing and the media pretending they are by preserving "neutrality", "objectivity" and simply presenting both sides, is precisely how we got fascists in charge elsewhere.
When one side preaches hate and the other love, when one side has a history of violence and actual convictions for it, while the other clearly doesn't... pretending you can stand in the middle is beyond cowardice.
It's complicity.
