Forget the UK for a moment. Any country in which all the practices described above have been reduced to the blind veneration of a national symbol, especially the flag, and that symbol is intrusively and permanently displayed everywhere for no good reason - smothering all diversity of public expression - has an ultra-nationalist problem. The stiflingly monocultural atmosphere is deliberate, and is always a portent of rising fascism, no matter which country we look at or which flag is flying.
