If it's Florida, there most likely isn't a basement. No frost heaving = no need for deep foundations = cheaper to build on a slab.

And if it's relatively recent construction, it almost certainly already has hurricane tie straps on the rafters inside. I think that's been in the building codes in hurricane-prone areas for a while now.
