In 2016, there were a lot of people out there going "wouldn't it be HILARIOUS if Trump won" all the while trusting that it wouldn't *really* happen.
The shock some other people expressed when he won was hard for me to deal with. I was really scared by the idea of a Trump presidency, but when he won I found out that a great number of people had just mentally decided that he couldn't win. That unfounded belief was weird & upsetting to me.
