Ward's trogon showcasing its vibrant purple and scarlet plumage. This species is native to the northeastern Indian subcontinent, extending into Southeast Asia, including countries like Bhutan, India, and Myanmar. The male, pictured here, is easily identifiable by its wine-purple back, bright red belly, and distinctive blue eye-ring. These birds are typically found in mature tropical hill forests, where they tend to remain still on mid-level perches while foraging for insects and fruit.
