Tbh, I think it's the "looking closer", that is keeping me from understanding what other people see in it.

My guess is this movie is more enjoyable the less you think about it.

But if that's the case, then why try to put high-minded themes in it? If it's not a movie you should think about, then just have fun with it & call it good.
